Going to hell?

If you died, and found out God was sending you to hell, would you join in Satan's war against God? Or would your claims of faith during life hold true after death? I hear it's hot down there.

ha. i'd quickly work my way to purgatory and sit around saying, "it's not bad...not good, but definately not bad."

If I was sent to hell, then my claims of faith during life would obviously have been wrong. I think at that point, its time to admit you were wrong.

The concept of hell doesn't allow for humans to "join in Satan's war." Satan and his demons do that, and humans are sent there to be punished.

Anyway, someone needs to lock this flamebait thread.

I thought we had something Mogul ... 🙁

I don't know - although this thread COULD go the way of the charbroiled hamburger, so far it's been quite civil.

I like to think of hell as your last chance to see the error of your ways - a final proving ground if you will. You want to keep on with your evil ways, you're going to keep on burning. If you truely repent you can work your way out of hell into purgatory and eventually heaven.

But what the hell do I know (pun intended...).

Oh - and I love Joseph Campbells discussion of everlasting vs. eternal.

There is no heaven or hell, these are mortal concepts based out of fear of the unknown. However, if I did end up on the 101 in rush hour traffic, that would effectively be hell and I would just grin and bear it, no action needed. 😛

10 points if you get the reference.
But your not in Georgia ATM. 😉

Maybe you should just dance in the pale moon light...

well, supposedly god is all powerful yet lets millions starve to death, millions to die of horrendous diseases, so, satan may have a point.

The reference is older than you think.
Gothe's Faust was written in 1800.
The story is much much older than that even.

I know the story, but it didn't involve selling one's soul to Satan for harmonica skills, now did it? 😀
