I have decided that I either want to go to gradute school in either a New Hampshire/Vermont or NY-Binghamton, and still considering moving out west a couple of places in Oregon and Colorado.

Please help give me a little insight into climate and the Goods/Bads of living there.

I live in Missouri now and I have to get out of the midwest, it is too stale, extremely conservative, and the summers are just way to hot and humid.

Did u know i graduated from Univ.Hawaii in Oahu, Honolulu?...It wasn't paradise for me tho'
coz i was poor and a student. Now i often go back every year for some R & R and its cool...

I was thinkin of moving to Texas but there are too many serial killers there...and of course..
we all know that pigman from TexasChainSaw is also there...so i said to myself, "Heck No!".

The Sheraton Wakikki (SPL) rules I love staying there. Our family went to Hawaii every Christmas when I a kid and we always stayed there and had several run ins with celebritys (Brian Wilson ETC....... he is really cool BTW all be it a little burned out).

Ahh I love Hawaii, maybe I should move there, it is really expensive to live there isn't it?

Hawaii is actually not expensive at all...the notion of it being pricey was 5-10 years ago when
everyone wanted to buy a property there but these days its really a buyers market...
rentals are cheap...cheaper if u buy a house...food is comparable...but the worse is there
are very few jobs...and they are all low paying.

i'm in san francisco now...and i dare say Hawaii is easily a third or half as expensive.

How do they measure that statistic? Do people actually write that on the census forms? Or do they have special people going door-to-door to ask the question? Do they call you at home and ask?

Did you know that 94% of all statistics people throw out in conversation are completely made up? :D

Go west young man, go west where people are more friendly and you can enjoy the best climate without deadly mosquito bite. Try Vancouver B.C pacific ocean, Washington State evergreen, Orgeon the best ocean view in the nation, and California girls.

You people obviously haven't been to Madison, Wisconsin then. UW is my school, and I can honestly say that it isn't conservative. Perhaps the Midwest as a whole is, but we sure as hell aren't. BTW, what's wrong with being a little conservative?

Hey, I'm from Texas, and I'm not a serial killer (honestly :p)! Texas can be nice, but if you can't take the heat, avoid Austin - Houston - San Antonio. It's butt-foogly hot here! (And HUMID..95 degrees will feel like 114. The humidity just makes everything feel like "Yuck.")

I'm thinking of relocating up to Dallas/Ft. Worth/Plano area after I graduate. They have Staples up there, so I can actually participate in these great in-store coupon deals that I'm forced to pass up every time. :)

This is not a hot deal and therefore should not be in this forum, but since a fellow AT asked for info I feel obligied to provide some. I went to Syracuse (undegrad) and have visited Binghamton often. I would advise you to avoid Binghamton. The whole Western/Central NY region is not the place I would chose to go to school (outside of Cornell). Binghamton is a very dreary city. There is really nothing to do there. It's better to go there as an undegrad. Main reason why is to party. You can party there, Syracuse, Cornell, IC, Colgate, etc. As more of an adult as I am assuming you are, I don't know how much you will like it. NYC is 3 hours away (doing speed limit). I'm sure NH/Vermont is borry as well, but better looking. If distance is not a problem, you can go to Canada, Boston, the whole New Englad region is pretty cool. I don't know how good the program is at Binghamton, but I know you won't like the city. Syracuse and Rochester (nearby somewhat) are larger cities and can be entertaining, but there is something about the people of Upstate NY that make you gol..uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgnnnnnnnnnnnn! It's a matter of choice, I suggest you visit both.
