Going to do a 2 day coffee detox plan

February 29 and 30, no coffee. Wish me luck! I need about a month to mentally prepare for this.

Obvious February joke aside - I've previously reset my caffeine tolerance numerous times.

You likely have a caffeine tolerance set, if you want to reset it (which is really a good idea IMO) you should go without any and all caffeine for AT LEAST 1 week, ideally 2 weeks.

I don't see much point in that. I'm pretty happy with my coffee tolerance, and coffee drinkers live longer.

Why? I’ve reset mine within like two days, and only ever because I got some kind of stomach illness and didn’t feel like drinking it. Headache day one, fine by day two. Who gives a shit? It’s harmless. I happily drink 3-4 cups per day, that shit is going to make me live to 150.

I've never drank so much coffee then I did this weekend. In fact, for whatever reason, I'm having a cup right now. I must've had about 6 cups over the weekend so far. I usually only have 1 a day. And that's only in the winter. For whatever reason, it's just been tasting too good lately.

If you measure in cups, and not in pots, that's rookie numbers!

Seriously though, I've kind of reduced my intake, I'd say around 4-5 cups per day is typical for me but some days I do only 2. I sometimes even skip a day. I will get a very mild headache but nothing crazy. Coffee makes me pee a lot so if I'm traveling I will also go without it for pretty much the entire time.

When I was of a lesser age I fell into a restaurant management job.

When I came in to open in the morning the first thing I'd do was put on a pot of coffee. By the time the next employee arrived (about an hour later) the pot was pretty much gone. I drank almost a pot of coffee by myself.

How in the hell did I do that? How in the hell do we do any of the things we do when we're young?

I once skipped coffee one morning, and I had a headache the entire day. Never again.
My wife has a headache every night at bedtime. It's a shame she has to get up early and coffee would keep her up all night or I would pour a pot or two down her throat.

A couple years back I stopped coffee completely for an entire year, going from 2-5 cups per day to zero, save for one on Thanksgiving and one on Christmas. It wasn't that difficult but I was disappointed to see when I added coffee back into my diet I didn't feel like it did much to stimulate my brain. Bottom line, I think it affects everyone differently.
