I agree. the Brazilian steakhouse places are all over the place, particularly Fogo.
I mentioned Tango Sur earlier, which is found in Lakeview/Wrigleyville. You will not be disappoint, and at a fraction of the price as Fogo (Fogo is very good, just not worth the price and carbon-copied all over the place)
probably not for him!
2 hours is the closest for a fogo or ruth chris
this tango sur place seems cool and is about 10 minutes from my in laws.......

I'll just keep posting this:Ruth Chris is near our hotel, and I've never been there. Not something that's set in stone.

Holy crap, I work across the street from you. How do you like all of the construction we're causing on California this week?
All those metal plates and No Parking signs for the construction is making it hard to park by my apartment because everyone moved from their normal parking spot.
Looks like I'll be moving from here this weekend though after being here for 2 yrs. My job has me driving to Elgin everyday and with gas approaching $5 makes no sense to live in Chicago. Of course the move comes out of my pocket again and will cost $600 more a month out there.
Of course the idiots on here will say its all my fault somehow as usual.
As others have said, Lou Malnati's is the place to go for some amwesome Chicago style Pizza.
And you can get a great Chicago style dog at Superdawg. Just don't ask for Ketchup. They won't serve you.
I've never understood this... they take a truly american food and take the america out of it by refusing your freedom to do what you want to it. Fuck you, it's my god damned food and I'll cover it chocolate syrup if I want to. Luckily I don't really care for hot dogs at all so it never comes up, but if I do eat them at a BBQ or something I usually have a bit of ketchup+mustard.
Wrt to Ruth's Chris, it's not a good steak house by any standard.
$600 a month more?
Elgin is cheap, much cheaper than Chicago.... Unless you are moving from the ghetto in chicago to the nicest house in all of elgin....
I've lived in Streamwood in the past, that place was a shithole (just a few mins from elgin though)....
If I were you I'd be looking for housing in West Dundee, or I'd look for housing in Carpentersville maybe....
They don't want you to ruin their food.
It's kinda like how people think your crazy for ordering a steak well done.
They take the time to prepare it and make it the right way, why destroy the beauty and ruin it by adding ketchup!
I am still bothered by the fact that demon dogs closed...
for the best dog in chicago you have to go a few miles outside the city to Gene and Judes....
portillos isnt bad though for a rubber dog..

Not really. Jimmy's hot dogs is on Grand and Pulaski. I think they are the same owners if im not mistaken. I like Jimmy's better.
Why did they randomly decide ketchup does anything different to it than any other topping? Why not relish? Or onions? Hell, even mustard itself has quite a strong flavor IMO and it does more to the taste than anything. It's like an entire city dedicated itself to hating the most popular condiment just because it was the most popular. One of the oldest (and most annoying) trolls I can think of. Actually one of my buddies is notorious for hating popular things just to spark an argument... and he's from Chicago. :hmm:
But I know others from Chicago that don't act like that, so who knows. The point is that it's stupid and makes no sense.
It's because Ketchup is evil 🙂
Actually, I have no idea why, but personally, I've never liked ketchup (always preferred fresh tomatos)
