Indeed they can, but why do people not feel the same way when the USA cracks down?

Edit...fitsd my spaleng..

The US has been cracking down on Canadians, even more so since the Montreal bomber was discovered. They also have been pushing us to increase security at our border, make sure terrorists can't flee that way ect. This is the result of Canada listening to what was asked of it.

Good job putting words in my mouth, I'm sure that wins you many arguments

I'm responding to the people in the thread saying well why are they doing this, The US should too blah blah blah. Canada is cracking down due to requests from the US government

Put your hair up under your hat and drive in a car that's not registered to a past 'offender'. I doubt they have time to check all automobile registrations and occupants. Don't tell'um I told ya that. ;)

Yep. If they knew it was gonna be a problem, they probably would have.

Assuming the database is that same that government agencies use to investigate citizens for security clearances, etc, expunging your record would have no effect. Apparently it's easier to obtain a security clearance than to cross the border.

Well, if they don't baby boomers who smoked pot in the 70s going there, its their loss, I am sure there are plenty of locations that will gladly take their tourism dollars.

I don't really care about this other than I'd like to know what exactly is in my record. It seems to me that if Homeland Security is sharing this info with other countries, then US citizens should have access to see just what is being shared.

if the issue is a DUI... it's a felony in Canada, and not in the US... If you have a conviction and want to travel look into getting a pardon. These days, its the only thing you can do.

it works both ways...if you are CDN and travel to the US, you can get denied if you have a prior unless you have been pardoned
