pfft So Cal is the best part of California. Nor Cal is a shit hole and stay away from the Inland Empire. If you're going to be in the LA area, hit up Long Beach and the South Bay. Best weather is in those two places, not to mention lots of shit to do.

Exactly! Stay away from my beautiful NorCal vineyards and redwood trees and lakes and hiking trails and scenic drives and coastlines! I like it rural, just the way it is. :)

In Socal it helps if you speak Spanish or Korean.

- Don't get robbed.

- While sitting in one of the many, inevitable traffic jams - don't open any car doors.

- Don't let them California girls lick your Popsicle, unless you want teh herp.

- Stock up on condoms, SoCal girls be easy.

- Don't get robbed.

Thats about it.

Korean is perhaps the easiest language to learn. Ask if they like soju and ask if they want to partake in soju while making hand motions that look like you want to drink. Boom made a friend with a Korean.

Agreed, downtown is improving and there are a lot of great places to eat and drink. My downtown faves: The Lazy Ox, Bottega Louie, Wurstkuche. Also have bacon and eggs at 3am after drinking at The Pantry, right next to Staples Center.

I think the lounge at the boneventure has that rotating room thing. Shit in there is really expensive though, but it's a nice view, sneak a peak and if you want to get reamed on food/drink prices stay for awhile.

I've never been but I hear California's wine country is pretty cool. Although I've never been one for big cities so maybe that is the only part of CA I've ever been interested in.

Which wine country? CA has several. Napa is of course the most well known/famous - there's the San Luis Obispo, there's Santa Barbara, there's Temecula and I think there are a few more too. If you like wine, there's plenty of it in CA.

LA, SD, SF are all great places with enough stuff to keep you busy for awhile. Assuming you can shell out for it. There are tons of great restaurants and bars in all three cities.

Outside of the three major cities there's a lot to do too if you have time. Orange County has neat stuff, old town orange is nice, Anaheim has Disneyland, Carlbad has legoland, Encinitas has the Wild Animal Park part of the San Diego Zoo (which some people say is better), etc. The central valley - you can void. The Central Coast region (Santa Barbara - San Luis Obispo) is lovely, but go to one of the extremes. SB is good, SLO area (Pismo, Morro Bay) are good to visit, but the stuff between them is kinda meh.

If you've never had it or you have and you like it - LA is as good of a place as any to get Korean food. It's as good as you'll get outside of Korea. There's a bunch of all you can eat BBQ places for pretty cheap.

BL + Wurstkuche for sure

I'm not a fan of the pantry but at 3am it aint bad (just kinda pricey)

One last piece of advice. Don't go when the "big one" happens, which we can only hope will be very soon. So you should probably just not go at all.

I really hope it happens in my life time though.

Queue Tool song ..... I wanna see it goooo down, suck it down, flush it down ......

and all their meat comes to you frozen or thawed.

or, as per usual AYCE KBBQ standard, thawed at first and then more frozen as you get further into your meal.

(tahoe galbi is my standby for AYCE)

me and my GF spend ~60 @ Park's, ~40 AYCE.

Easily worth the $20 difference.

The one by me isn't 24 hr :( it's like one of the only ones that isn't. I live like around a ton of Koreans too, fuck it's literally right next door to another Korean BBQ place. I do have some pretty decent mexican food places around me that are open 24/7.
