Xbox, IMHO, is the place to be...especially if you want to play online.
PS and GC have been smoked in this generation concerning online play.

I haven't heard of a price drop so don't hold your breath. One will happen sometime, but I doubt anytime soon. The two free games are ok. Many people like jet set radio future and it got decent reviews on IGN. Sega gt 2002 also got good reviews and I've spent many hours on it as well. They aren't excellent games, but they are not token crap games either. Of course we both know you're getting Halo along with that Xbox.

As Murphy said JSRF future is very weird. I played for a few hours, but in the end I felt that I was being brain washed or something. It's just totally fvckin nutty.

I will definatly check out Halo.

check it out, but don't hold your breath, the first few levels are great, but now its just as repetitive as all hell. I hope it gets better soon....

Well, it looks like most of you guys favor Xbox. Thats kinda the way I was leaning anyway. Will probably wait to see if any of the stores are offering anything special this weekend when the ad scans come out.

Regarding the newest consoles...

I had a PS2, and then I added an Xbox. After a month or so, I realized that I never played the PS2 anymore. So, I traded that for a GameCube (since my kids love Mario/Zelda.)

GTA3:VC is the ONLY thing that I miss about the PS2.

As everyone has said, Xbox LIVE rocks and I'm not sure how I ever played games before without in-game 5.1 surround sound.

among the 2 multiplayer...xbox live is superior in my opinion....

it's a hard choice...but i'd go for the xbox..since all my friends have the ps2....and i just play ffx whenever i go over or someone brings a ps2...

I like playing RPG games, . So I vote for the PS2. Only reason I would want to get a Xbox would be for PDO, Halo, SC (PS2 is getting this now), and Xbox Live w Mech Assult. But, I cant affoard a new console seeing that the first 3 months of this new year will be sweet for the PS2. Too many games I want to get: DMC2, Getaway, Xenosaga, StarOcean, Midnight Club II (also on Xbox), TR:AoD, FFXI, ZoE2, and now SC.

FF1 and FF2 (originals) are being redone for the PS1 which will then be playable on the PS2. Xenosaga is coming out. Hack sign is coming out. FFX-2 is coming out. A new megaman is coming out. Devil may cry 2 is coming out. Silent Hill 3 is coming out.

It all comes down to games, don't focus on the graphics. I won't say which console has better games (as I havn't gotten an xbox YET). But I'd seriously suggest you take a look at some console magazines (gamepro/etc) and ebgames.com / ign.com and look at the games you think you would like to play. You should be able to get a good list of about 12 games you want to play on the system, and then you can go ahead and buy it knowing you've got stuff to look forward to.

Console picking should be as easy as this:
1. Write down the consoles your thinking about.
2. Research all the games you like and which console they play on.
3. Buy console that has the most games you will want to play.

Right now, I've got about 7 games on my PS2 that I havn't beaten yet, including Suikoden 3, tony hawk pro 4, ffx, dragon warrior (some number), blood omen 2, vice city and the list goes on. There is also a ton of games that are coming out that I will be ordering. So I am pretty content.

1 cool RPG looks like it will be coming out for the xbox, but I forgot the name. It is being made by the dude who made black and white and looks to have some surreal enviroments. It is too early for any decent previews though.

It's called Fable, and it is designed by Peter Molyneaux.

Another Xbox RPG which should get a LOT of attention is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It is being developed by the geniuses at BioWare.

It sounds like the games you like are better off on the Xbox cause of the graphics and the amount of games you like to play. Sports games, action, fps and 3rd person shooters. Imho Halo was ok, it was a decent shoot in terms of gameplay but the levels were so uncreative.

Im surprised that Star Wars Galaxies is going to be on the Xbox cause usually with MMorpgs you need a keyboard to bind all the different skills etc. I mean they could do it with a menu based system for the Xbox but it would seem slower with a controller than a keyboard.

If you were a rpg fan I would recommend a PS2 since its got a bigger library of rpgs. Xbox does have some coming but there are more and more quality ones on the PS2 or they are forthcoming.

Gamecube if you specifically like the games on it.

Dude, Mech Assult is 480, only the in-game movies are 1024. Plus if you don't have an HDTV qualified T.V. you won't even get the High Definition feature. Just because you have a Widescreen doesn't make it HDTV.










And go with the PS2. Buy a S-Video cable for your brand new PS2 if your T.V. has an S-Video input. It makes all the difference.

You have to realize that the PS2 had a head start on the XBOX. Moreover, the Xbox is a much better investment in the long run, especially considering the high quality of it's Live! service. With much better hardware and support for HDTV, the XBOX will keep becoming better and better. As a nice extra you can play your favorite mp3's during games, and much much more. Plus you can get an xbox under $200 no problem, it's steal.

actually, i would rather get a xbox, but my brother already has one. its all modded and gots a 100GB hard drive n everything. its crazy. as for me, im getting a PS2 soon. id love to play my old games on there, beatmania, ddr, etc.
