Well....maybe that is the problem. I lived in Boston/Cambridge for 6 years. I have seen Legal Seafood turn into a mecca of seafood crap.

As for drinks, that is probably where we differ. I prefer drinks at local non chain places.

As do I :) Wait until you see the Corner Cafe.... that's my favorite bar. Sail Loft is second favorite. Intermission Tavern my third. However, Legal seafoods *specifically* is one of my favorite places for a drink. Primarily because it's awesome to eat oysters and drink good drinks, like their watermelon crush (which I haven't been able to find anywhere else). I also know two bartenders.

I don't like any other corporate place in Boston except maybe Top of the Hub.

So long as they have Gentleman Jack behind the bar we'll be cool...

Thanks! I poked around on their site a bit looking for that page but lost hope when every time I searched off the main page I got a google search appliance error

Anything that involves the mbta is horrible. You can actually reload your MBTA account online, but you need to go to a station and swipe it in order to activate it.

Newbury Comics is a good chain that is popular in MA.

They also have this place in Cambridge on MASS AVE, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Place on MASS AVE is called Cheapo Records. I am not sure if they carry new vynl because I only go there for hard to find CD's from the UK. There is also this place in Harvard Sq. called Planet Records that my friends like, but I have never been.

Also, before Vinyl made that big comeback, you used to be able to sample any record you wanted at Newbury Comics. They have, however, stopped that.

Chinatown is down the street.

Stay away from legal Seafood.

I liked it. I'm sure there are better and cheaper places but it was incredible seafood and great atmosphere. With the small places you never know what you are going to get.

I posted in that thread, I plan to but you never know what may happen. It's 1.4 miles from my hotel, should I walk it or cab it?

Unless you physically can't handle it I'd walk, you are going to have to walk in to the North End anyways so just take 30 minutes and walk the whole way.

Touristy but worth-visiting restaurants - Union Oyster House and Durgin-park.

I do like Legal's but I got one of those in my town so I'm not going to travel 600 miles and go eat at one.

You can practically walk into any restaurant in the North End and win. Pizzeria Regina was a fairly unique experience although it seems so chain-ified now. It was still good the last time I was there, though.

The Black Rose has a fairly authentic Irish fry-up for breakfast....even has black and white puddings.
