don't go outside of the inner harbor lol.

And if you must, bring a gun 🙂

I live right on the edge of the "safe" zone, and try to avoid leaving the Inner Harbor area whenever possible.

C'mon now, people.

I'm not sure how old the OP is, but Fells Point and Federal Hill have some cool bars.

The Aquarium and inner harbor area isn't too bad, at least it wasn't when I went there like 10 years ago. I remember some kid put his finger in the pirhana tank for like a couple seconds.

Hang out in the inner harbour and u'll be fine ... Capital City Breweries has some decent home brews and food. Usually something or the other going on in the harbour.

Nothin to do in Philly, but check out Tony Luke's cheese steaks

you MUST get a Geno's cheese-steak in Philly, they are world-reknowned...I used to live in philly for 2 years, and i can safely say, after tons of steak places, theirs are the absolute best

Visit the Harbor. Eat some good food and enjoy the view. Don't venture off anywhere else in Baltimore; it's really a cruddy city.

Oh, and swing by Columbia to see one great magnificant city. 🙂 Purbeast will argue against that, but dont listen to him.

Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, Harbor area, Orioles games. Plenty to do, see, drink, eat.

PS Geno's is the worst steak I had in Philly.

Baltimore sucks, be careful, lots of crime, theft, muggings.

Go to the Hustler club, catch a cab thre, its on a street full of strip clubs. Say hi to my girl Marley.

Yah if you wanna go be bored, go to Columbia 😀

Baltimore's not the greatest place on Earth, but it has A LOT more to offer than all these suburban wusses (whose exposure to B-more is probably a trip to Camden Yards and an episode of The Wire) would have you believe. :| 😉

And thanks to a slow day at work, here's a MAP of the city with neighborhoods of interest labelled. note that there's much more than just the harbor.

Inner Harbor - The Aquarium, Hard Rock, ESPN Zone, etc. Nice views. But nearly everything is a chain store/restaurant. Doesn't give you a true feel of the city.
Federal Hill - Closest cool neighborhood to harbor. Tons of bars and restaurants. Near the stadiums for convenient pre-gaming. My favorite bars: Thirsty Dog and Ropewalk
Fells Point - Less yuppy, more "character" than Federal Hill. Tons of bars/restaurants as well. The Soundgarden is a great CD/record shop. My favorite bars: Wharf Rat, Max's on Broadway, One-Eyed Mikes, Waterfront.
Canton - My neighborhood. More residential as compared to Federal and Fells. The Square on O'Donnell street is where the bars are concentrated. I like the Square enough during the week (Nacho Mama's, JD's, Claddagh), but it gets a bit crowded/dancey for me on the weekends. I prefer the side-street bars, however: Mahaffey's, Pickled Parrot, Growlers
Mt. Vernon - The cultural (and gay) center of Baltimore. Home to the Walter's Art Gallery, Peabody, Meyerhoff, Lyric, etc. Washington Square is very nice. Also home to some great bars/restaurants: Mick O'Sheas, Brewer's Art (amazing beer, food, and atmosphere), The Belvedere
Little Italy - It's little and contains (shocker) tons of Italian restaurants. None standout greatly, but they're generally tasty and affordable. Vaccaro's (gelati and other desserts) is worth checking out.
Charles Village - The area near Johns Hopkins main campus, so it obviously has a college vibe. I like it because it's home to the Ottobar.
Northern Fells/Butcher's Hill and Locust Point - Probably only worth checking out if you've exhausted the other rest of the city. Some very cool places, but they're spread out and are somewhat hard to find.

Camden Yards is a great place to catch a baseball game, and AFAIK they don't sell out games anymore. See if you can catch a game while you're here.

yup, they definitely don't sellout anymore, thanks to 10 straight sub .500 seasons. it must be nice for the Boston and New York fans - they have no problem finding tickets when they come down and flood Camden Yards. 😱

Yeah, Baltimore is a rough place. Worst place I've ever lived. Stay in the Green Zone while you're there. . .
