$50 is way too much money to spend on a birthday present for a 7 year old who isn't your child.
Go to Target or Walmart and get something like this
He's one of my oldest friends and $50 is not that much. We just never see his kid, because he is usually trying to escape the family and the suburbs when he comes downtown to visit.
KT
Ok, does she have a bike? For $38.88 you can buy this.
Pretty sweet!

I bike should be a parents gift, imo. Its a major stepping stone so I think her first bike should be from daddy, ya know?
She's a girl so a gift card to a kids clothing store would be good, if she is at that stage. At 7 are girls into fashion or makeup yet? Maybe a kids makeup set.
When I was 8 or so I was given a kids shaving kit from my uncle, I loved it... I was just like daddy. 'cept mine was cooler cuz it had power rangers on it!
I suggest you don't get her a fake shaving kit... that would be weird.

My niece is 7. She loves Barbie, Bratz and Strawberry Shortcake. I think there's also something called Hannah Montana that they all like too. Hope that helps.

go to hallmark, go to the birthday section and they should have an area organized by age. buy a 'happy 7th birthday!' card, put a nice, brief message in there and sign it. put said $50 bill (or a check will also work fine) into the card and take that to the party. happy birthday!
Yeah, that's my last resort gift, if nothing else pans out.

NO. I'll guarantee that the parents will buy her something less than 50 bucks, or clothes or something, and not to mention that it is tacky as hell.

I have a daughter near that age. She is currently enthralled with High School Musical for some reason I have yet to determine. I see the merchandise nearly everywhere we shop, but I'm not sure if I should recommend buying things for your friend's daughter that I wouldn't buy for my own.

get her some kind of activity set. i got my girls things like the air brush tattoo machine, the bedazzler or a bead making kit. they love making their own accessories at that age, and helping out with their creativity is always a plus. my 13 yr old got a kit to tie die shirts for her bday last week and loves it. she and her friends messed with that sucker for hours. she also has a plan to get some more dye and white shirts over this weekend to do more. it also makes it easier to choose stuff for kids you know nothing about

Lol, yeah, I just looked at the website. Is that Hilary Duff? I thought she was in rehab or something.
