Going to a friend's daughter's birthday party this weekend.

Anyone have suggestions? I try not to be around kids if I can avoid it, so I really have no clue what to get her and the parents are not offering any advice.

Budget is around $50ish I guess.

In seriousness, get her a racing or train set...lol. My bro bought his daughter a racing set once, and she was delighted for weeks with it.

It will also be a chance for her to play with her parents with it also. Many girls like toys made for boys.

Do 7 year old girls like train sets? I never would have thought of that.

I saw a Hello Kitty digital camera online, which I thought would be cool, but I do not think I can get it up here.

webkinz stuffed animals that you interact with on the web
an idog or the like if the kid has an MP3 player,
a gift card to Barnes & Noble, Target, Justice would also work.

He's one of my oldest friends and $50 is not that much. We just never see his kid, because he is usually trying to escape the family and the suburbs when he comes downtown to visit.

Of course they do. All kids like train sets. Just make sure you get one with some interactivity, like switches or something.

A camera would be nice, but after a few pictures of things around the house, she'd probably get bored of it fast.

I kind of agree that $50 is sort of a lot for a neice, unless you are really like a father figure or something to her. (Or you kinda wanna give the in-law a humping.)

You are probably right about the camera. I know my buddy would love to play with the train set, even if she wouldn't, so I'll take a look at those.

go to hallmark, go to the birthday section and they should have an area organized by age. buy a 'happy 7th birthday!' card, put a nice, brief message in there and sign it. put said $50 bill (or a check will also work fine) into the card and take that to the party. happy birthday!
