Going rate for Coldfusion programming

I need to have some coldfusion work done. I already have the database design, requirement list, html templates, content, forms, etc. I just need someone to tie it all together. I am doing this for a company that wants to have an online auction, classifieds, and personal pages web site built for its employees, etc. Its nothing special, but they want it custom made. So I designed the template, forms, database, etc. all to the requirements the company put together. Their requirement list is about 45 pages long. Anyways, I have been looking for a coldfusion programmer to work with, and I already got one big. This programmer wants $105 per hour, and says it will take 1992 hours to do the project. I was thinking more like $75 per hour and 192 hours or less, not 1,992. I picked up the bid at his office today, but he wasn't in and I haven't had time to talk to him about his "typo"

What is a fair rate for high level coldfusion programming?

I have seen as high as $250/hour and as low as $45/hour.

Of course the ones that ask for a higher price will get the work done quicker. Don't forget the quality of work, too.

We offer Coldfusion programming services for exactly the type project you are looking for. We just completed a CF poject for Lowe's corporate office. Our rates are $80/hr. We would be very interested seeing your requirments list and offering a bid.

Holy crap! $105/hr * 1,992 hrs = $209,160!!!!

I will pick up a CF book and learn it if I had to. I've done it once but haven't used CF ever since that one project I completed.

That 1,992 hours estimate must be a mistake... assuming he puts in 8hrs a day, that would take 249 days. A little too long to complete a project like yours.

Yea, I think its a mistake to. Working 40 hours a week, or 160 per month, its like 12.5 months. It should take a senior programmer about a month to do this. Everything we are asking for is pretty straightforward.
