Going PCIe...maybe

I built my rig in '04 and am thinking about ditching the AGP and upgrading to PCIe video and will need a new MoBo. Not too interested in SLI but like ASUS w/possibly an AMD 64 X 2. Will an upgrade be worth it? Anyone have something similar?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you just looking to upgrade some stuff? Because it looks like if you're going to upgrade you pretty much need a new PC. But if you're in the market for a new PC, now's the time to do it while the prices are so cheap.

The ASUS M2N-E worked great for me. Solid, good performance, and nothing I didn't need. I think it was $98 shipped from Newegg.

An Asus MN2-E with an Athlon64 X2 5000 would be a nice combo for around $220 at newegg. On the other hand, if you want a spend a bit more I would consider A Core 2 Duo chip and an Intel P35 motherboard.

...what's your budget?
