Going out for the socially inept

My life may not be filled with great moments in coolness, but it certainly makes for some amusing "laugh at my dorkiness" stories. So am I the only one that feels really weird about going to a restaurant/bar/club/pub by themselves? I want to go out tonight but I can't ever seem to get myself over the fact that I must look like a dork going somewhere alone.

Also anyone from the Boston area familiar with the Kells? I want to check that place out but being the dork that I am, I don't really know what to wear and feel like a complete wuss going alone. Jeans and a button down shirt ok there? Anyone feel like watching me be a dork and get shot down by women way out of my league?

Nah, I'm the same way. I hate going to bars and resteraunts alone, because I feel like a total 'tard.

Nah, I hate going to clubs/parties alone too. I think its normal, I don't know many people who will hit up a bar without at least one buddy to hang with.

I commend you for going out alone. I always want to too but I can't bring myself to do it.

I know exactly what you mean man. The majority of my friends are now married or otherwise attached, and I never have anyone to go places with. So most of the time I end up not going anywhere. If I was in Boston I would hang with you

Not helping. Not helping at all. Anyone in the area? Damn it, I'm losing my nerve.

I don't see what the big deal is. I go out to eat or to the movies by myself all the time. Why do you need to be accompanied every minute of your life?

dude seriously you got to do what you got to do..you shouldnt care what other people think if thats your fear...

realistically it boils down to this..you either go out do what you got to do alone and have fun ..or stay home and let that fear of inadequacy keep you from being social..

go out even if its by yourself..what do you really have to lose..you have everything to gain..im sure after a few times you gain the confidence in yourself that you need.

I think you misunderstood him. He never said he needs companionship every minute of his life. More likely, he's probably been alone for awhile and just looking for a buddy/someone to talk to.

Nothing wrong with that. :)

I don't know if I made it clear in the first post or not, maybe I was too subtle. I am a complete social retard.

I know, I was speaking in general terms. I've talked to many people who would NEVER even consider going out by themselves...

Kells is ok, if you want a more laid back bar in the area try the white horse or our house

You got a better shot of meeting a person or two at Kells than you do sitting home at your keyboard . It's a very warm Oct night , go out and be with people !

And I go out, get rained while waiting for the T. Realize I have no umbrella with me and decide to just stay home.
