Why?
Weight loss?
Calories in = calories out

Why did you duplicate your other thread with a slightly higher fat component?

Something balanced like 33% 33% 33% for weight loss is okay. Some people are proponents that macros affect body composition and say to strive for an even higher protein amount, as much as 40-45%.

actually, no, different foods are absorbed differently.

OP, if you want drastic weight loss, just do zero sugar zero fat, eat only rice and beans.
carb diet works, we've existed on it for a long time. just, don't expect to bulk up w/o protein.

... Zero fat? Sure, if you want to sap your test production. Plus on a diet that was pure carbs you'd retain a boatload of water, too.

In fact, I'd recommend 100% the opposite of what you just suggested, eating only protein and fat, with 0 carbs if type of "extreme" diet was warranted. Carbs are non essential and technically you can live with out them. Keto diets are popular, but I don't know enough about them to advise them or have much opinion on it.

well, back when i had a physically demanding job (walking 10 miles a day, shoveling leaves) i ate only rice, baked beans, no oil, no fat, zero sugars, and lost 63 pounds in maybe 6 months.

remember that you don't "lose" weight .. you eat it.

Your statement is misleading a little. There is some[/] fat in beans. Albiet very small per serving, but there is some. However, studies show that fat intake levels effect testosterone production in the body. That might not have a huge effect if all you're trying to do is "lose weight", but having lower than genetically optimal levels is obviously not something a man would desire.

PS, I noticed OP now put 50% fat, up from 40% yesterday.

You need about a 1 gram of omega 3 fats every day, and about 2-3 grams of omega 6 fats every day. You also need 1000mg of calcium and 1g of protein per 2lb of body weight (at minimum, more for bodybuilders).

After that, I'd recommend a green salad every day, to make sure you get enough antioxidants and vitamins.

Its definitely not as simple as calories in vs calories out, despite what many believe. If you restricted your calories per day to 2000, but ate them entirely in the form of carbs, it would be difficult to lose weight, especially if you grazed throughout the day.

i was 118 Kg at the time and went down to 89. got plenty of fat intake from my own storage *wink*

kept the weight off for 5 years, until i got this horribad job where i sit down for 14+ hours at the time.

it won't work if you are trying to lose the last 5 extra pounds and have plenty of muscle mass...

Having tried a number of different macro % differences. For weight loss it matters very little besides going super low carb you will initially lose a decent amount of water weight.
What ends up mattering the most is how you FEEL.
I feel the best on a 40% carb, and 30 % protein, 30% fat and I perform better on my work outs.

honestly, i cannot do 40/30/30 or any other mixed percentage diets. i can do 0% or 100%, but if i start to mix and match, i lose willpower instantly.

otoh, if i just cut entirely a food group, i have no problems.

I tried this diet but in the opposite way to confirm his results, i.e. I ate a surplus of Twinkies for an extended period of time. I am here to vouch for the validity of his claims in terms of confirming that the opposite works as well - eating 4,000 calories of cupcakes coupled with low physical activity will indeed lead to an increased BMI :D

One study, on one guy who was also not weight lifting is not a very good indicator either way of how macro consumption will effect body composition long term.

In the short term I think it's pretty well agreed on that eating less calories than you need, regardless of type (fat, prot, etc) will lead to a loss of body mass. What I have yet to see is a large group study over a long period of time, where healthy individuals eat in caloric deficit while weight lifting and eating different macro ratios. Ie, group one is 40/30/30, group two 33/33/33 and group three some other ratio. 6 month trial with body composition measurements before and after, and strength measurements (less important) before and after.

Calory =/= calory
carb =/= carb
fat =/= fat
protein =/= protein

It's very important to eat the healthy, whole kind of each.
Also there are certain foods that have little to no calories, but can affect health strongly. For example green leafs. A person could eat a 2000 calory diet AND green leafs or just 2000 calories. It will be a huge difference for health and weight.
Also, fasting is probably a good idea ( I don't do it personally as I'm too weak-willed and not used to it at all... ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UkZAwKoCP8
