as title says, ive been looking around i upgraded to 24inch screen from 19 and them from 8800gt 512 to gtx 260 , i know i7 is the best there is but idk if its going to be an overkill, i still have plenty of time just looking for options.
i guess the i7 setup is going to be cheaper . msi x58 pro was for like 140 on open box + 250ish for i7 + some 80ish for RAM.

I hope they come down in the next 6 weeks...
 
If i were looking for a new CPU/MOBO I would go for an AMD Phenom 2 940 or a x3 720 then i would get a 790GX board, download the overclock utility and clock it up!

But I don't have the best experience in overclocking or motherboards so don't take my word for it
