I have a Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro with 128 MB RAM, I m getting a great deal if I sell my card, & get a Gigabyte FX5700 based card, how good is a FX5700 non Ultra over a Radeon 9600 Pro. My work includes casual gaming with quality of image the most important, usually I play games at 1024X768 with 2X AA & 2X Anis. Filtring.

80% of the time I spend with my PC is on Windows or 2D, so is the 2D quality of nvida better, same or worse then ATI

The ATI drivers have already given me some trouble in past even in 2D application compatibility like when playing with RealOne Player, DVD used to hang till catalyst 4.1, & other sort of probs. I need to know Do the drivers for nvidia atleast provide stable & good quality 2D image & 3D Image with this FX5700, are they better then Catalyst for ATI with 2D

Well, my Radeon supports VPU recoverer, is there anything like this for the nvidia FX cards, as it has helped me a lot during crashes

Not a difference. In fact, in 90% of cases, the 9600 will be slightly faster, more-so when PS/VS 2.0 games come into play (read HL2).

I`d say about the same. nVidia has just about caught up.

1) RealOne player sucks. It crashes all the time with both of my system, on WinXP/9700pr & on my iBook.
2) Alot of people still consider nVidia drivers to be the "be all and end all" of drivers, but they are living in the past, the simple fact is that you`ll have just as many problems with ATI drivers as you would with nVidias. They`re both about as stable as each other. To be honest. Neither is better.

Well, my Radeon supports VPU recoverer, is there anything like this for the nvidia FX cards, as it has helped me a lot during crashes
AFAIK, nVidia Drivers dont support a similar feature. I could be wrong, however im reasonably sure that they dont.

Yea you'll wana stick with your ati. The 9600 pro is a very good card, and That 5700 is a non-ultra meaning the 9600 will kick its little hiny in everything. I personaly think that nvidia drivers are better, but that is just my personal opinion. But if I could I would trade my 5600 ultra for a 9600pro in a heart beat...

A 9600 pro RAPES a 5700 non ultra, not even on the same field, 5700 non ultra is meant to compete with 9600 non pro

is the 2D quality of nvida better, same or worse then ATI

Depending on the manufacturer of the card be it from an ATI partner or and nVidia partner, the 2d will vary, some nvidias are better than ATI's, some ATI's are better than nvidias, but overall, they are about the same.

like when playing with RealOne Player

Realone player sucks

nvidia drivers are great

about the same, matrox is better than everyone in this department

my Radeon supports VPU recoverer, is there anything like this for the nvidia FX cards

if you set up your card correctly, you will have no need for such programs

if it was an Ultra It would kick the 9600pros but though the 5700 and the 5700Ultra should not share the same #'s :p Odin in the FS FT forum is selling a 5700Ultra For $130 which is a real good deal
