Going Down the Stairs

Walking up the stairs seem to be a very fluid motion and intuitive.

But walking down the stairs, it seems significantly more complicated and jerky unintuitive motion, and I've always felt like without alot of care vs. up, I would fall over.

haha, while that hasn't happen to me yet, if I ever do become insane, it may.

This new country i'm in has LOTS of stairs, and even some of the 10 floor apartment homes which i sometimes traverse has no elevator.

When I broke my foot and was wearing a cast, going down was absolutely harder than going up.

seems early in the morning I always find it difficult to go down smoothly.

I just let myself "drop" down the stairs, taking the steps fast yet with hardly any use of energy. Let gravity do the work. Harder to do on outside stairs though as it could result in slipping on ice and cracking my skull open. So I'm usually more careful outside.

I can practically glide down the stairs. I have to slowly stomp up the stairs.

Here's the problem with that technique, it puts alot more stress on your joints when you just let it drop. so i always dampen the fall with my other leg so my front leg lands softly on the next step.

I sort of do that, I make it happen rather smoothly. The only time it may put a stress is the last stair when I hit the even ground. If there's a railing I tend to use my arms and literally just slide the railing without my feet hardly even touching the stairs. Always fun to do. I always thought of how fun it would be to rig an axle with two rims that fit perfectly on the railing at each end and roll down while holding on the bar. Circular stairwells would be super fun too. It's probably a good thing I've never had the opportunity to try this as it would probably result in breaking something.
