i need to take calculus, never did in the past. never finished my degree :( need to go back and salvage what credits i can. i will need to take calculus and i haven't done math for school in a long time (5+ years), so one semester i will probably just take calculus and get a tutor instead of working up to it, i will just jump in. how much do tutors usually cost?

can be upto $30/hr. i'd say the average is $20/hr. a cheap one would be $10-$15/hr

Yeah, $20/hour is probably pretty typical. I used to charge $10-15, but it was a pretty small school. A lot of places do offer tutoring/help sessions for free, so check that out.

270 will prolly be a little more theoretical and technical will focus more on the practical such as cables between towers, optimization of space etc...

Calc with AG will proabably be more challenging in terms of simply mathematically symbolic problems wil lthe technical class will probably focus on word problems.

jsut a guess.

I"m just guessing here, but maybe Technical calculus is business calculus, so lots more application to business, and story problems.

I took calculus w/ analytic geometry is what I took, and it was calculus designed for engineers, so less business-story type problems...rather, you just do a bunch problems, like find derivative of this, of that.....

Best of luck.

Calc was the reason I didn't finish College 20+ yrs ago too.

I got paid $8/hour to tutor engineering classes in our tutoring center. As long as you beat that, you should be able to find a tutor.

Where are you? I know a really good calc tutor. Most schools have tutors available, or at least have a list somewhere of who helps.

i am in AZ.

maybe i will take the equivalent at the community college level (mat220) and pay less for the class and hopefully for the full time tutor i am about to employ....

yep, it has been years and i really don't like math. if i do mat270 then that would take care of the math i need for many different programs of study, i just want to do this one time, a semester of pure hell...
