going abroad-need a good, free e-mail service

I will be going to South America in January for little more than a month collecting lichens for my PhD project. Before that I must get a free e-mail adress so I can sent mails while I'm away. Anybody has any recommendations?

I'm not really shure of what to look for, but privacy is important to me. Their privacy policy wasn't all that good, I think.

If you search Yahoo for "free email" it comes up with tons of them.

Hmm hotmail-microsoft, I really don't trust them. They have proved more than once that personal privacy is nothing they care about, rather the opposite.

Thanks for the link to hushmail, but I don't need that kind of privacy. I'm more considered with them letting my personal info out to others, using spyware on me etc.
