This is disappointing.

Mouse Wars wants huge money for these games despite how old they are. Not only that there are only a few games and there is no collection. Just wait and see how many games end up there and when a sale comes by then just get the whole collection.

$10 is huge money?

Also love the notion that instead of paying $10 for the game he wants now, he'd rather wait for a bundle sale (for argument, say 5 games at 50%) and spend $25 for the game plus others he does not want/ play!

:whiste:

It'll probably be more like 50% off each one or the whole bundle for like 15$

I don't see anything wrong with the pricing. They had to put effort into making them function again and getting the rights for long out of print games; even if that was just setting up dosbox for some of them, I appreciate it. That and it's the base price; I'm willing to wait till they go on sale.

Has anyone tried these? How well do they work now? I loved TIE Fighter, but I just don't know if I could stand the resolution anymore.

To quote myself in the other thread, this is just a quick 10min check.
So just a quick test,

Xwing 93 - Load and seems ok, slight delay at the beginning during into and stuff, loaded xwing training missing seemed ok

Tie 94 - Loads, but gfx screwed up. you can make it out bit they are all wrong

Xwing/Tie 98 -- cant test as do have gamepad or joystick(at all) handy at the moment

This in Win7 Pro full update, Radeon 7570M, i7-3250m.. Work Laptop

Only wish at the moment is that they also had xwing alliance. Xwing v tie fighter probably won't have multipleyer capability so not a real priority.

Wasn't X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter primarily multiplayer when it was released?

And I agree if they put work into these games to work on Windows 7 and 8 that is worth money for them. But these games are more like worth $5 instead of $10. Both of these games were already on the web for free as abandonware.

Have Star Wars Fan Favorites 1 and 2, Empire at War Gold, and the full KOTOR Collection. However I play games that require CDs less and less so I would like to be able to buy these digitally. The Star Wars Collection on Steam is $100 and at some point it is probably going to go down to $25 when it is on sale. However since it now seems that the X-Wing games are gong to release on GOG I might buy from them instead. But I hope they bring over every game they already have on Steam and sell them as a collection.

Supposedly. But it is the only X-Wing game I have ever tried and that was when I was a kid. There were missions you could play offline. Which reminds me if I was able to play that game without any problems back then the how dumb must the mass consumerist gamer be if that game is too complex for them.

Hmm, Sam & Max too. Is today Christmas?

IIRC, I think they're using either DOSbox or SCUMVM for the adventure games. I seem to recall Dungeon Keeper using DOSbox.

It's no longer abandonware if they're actively being sold 😛 Saying anything should be anything because of it being "abandonware" is very weird considering abandonware is a very grey and nebulous area.

Going off memory I can't even recall a single player element to XWvTF, though it may have it. Which I why I though it wasn't with the first release.

I believe you could do skirmishes in single player. The expansion had a campaign if I recall correctly; The original definitely had no campaign.

So basically, there has been no compatibility work done on these games. Because I get the exact same results using the original discs and the latest version of D-fend Reloaded (DosBox 0.74 included) on my Windows 7 64-bit OS.

Disappointing.

Might have to fire this one up myself....

I have so much great souvenirs with this game. I played a lot of it, nearly nonstop for months with the Logitech Wingman:

Is it upgraded from the original?
I set up a system with XP to play some X-Wing Alliance with, but it looks quite dated (obviously), partly because it's using IGP which somehow can't manage to handle it with full graphics... which is ridiculous.

(And I have it hooked up to a projector so I can play it in largescreen),

Empire at War, Rogue Squadron 3d and most importantly REBELLION!!! were added today. Super stoked to get my galaxy management on.

Ah rebellion... So wish that would be a revised title (and someone could provide a better guide on the resource/construction scheme it uses).

Good that its been released, last couple times I tried started getting harder to run in post xp.
