would any of these work on steam? more importantly this doesn't look like it is , or is compatible with, BG: EE at all?
They're all originals and do not work with BG:EE. They do not activate on Steam.

The special edition on steam uses steam for multiplayer, which is actually quite helpful. You don't need them to be on Steam since they are all DRM-free.
There is no always-on client. You download the installers once, on any PC not necessarily the one you will use. Install them forever, on as many PCs as you own, for the rest of your life. Then pass them on to your great-grandchildren.
Remember back when you had to actually pay attention?
Yea, but my attention span and memory are a lot shorter than they used to be!!!
I have to say the combat, at least in the early game is really difficult. Seems like my attacks do nothing and the enemies have basically a one hit kill. Also seems like a lot of lag and imprecision in my attacks that is from the mechanics of the game itself. My system should handle this game with ease, not sure why it is not smoother.
When I go home tonight I'm gonna set my monitor to B&W and see if thats true. I'm betting it isnt.
I believe (correct me if I am wrong because it has been some time since I played) that the little target circles that represent enemies are red, while friendly characters are green. Maybe this isn't a huge deal once you learn the mechanics of the game better, but I can remember doing the training session in Candlekeep and it has a bitch trying to figure the targeting out.
It could also just be that I suck at the game too.
I must just suck too, because whether the circle is red or green, it seems about half the time when I tell the character to attack, he just stands there doing nothing or totally misses. OTOH, enemies seem to be able to hit you unerringly.
I did find that the game was capped at 30FPS in the .ini file. I tried it briefly at 60 and the characters move really fast, but I havent had time to do any combat.
I played the heck out of KOTOR 1 and 2 and both NWN games, so it is not like I am not familiar with the D&D ruleset. This game just seems brutally difficult. I haven even been able to beat the mage Temesh or whatever his name is in the very first level without cheating.
What are you playing as? If it's a mage, in D&D they do start out as 1 hit you're dead, and you need to be careful to stay ranged and actually use your spell(s).
Those are third edition. AD&D 2nd edition is quite a bit tougher.
Actually, they removed MOST of the complexities from the video games like Baldurs Gate. You're playing a watered down version of the table top experience.
I want to get these but how would they look on a 28" 2560x1440 monitor?

Interesting, didnt know that. What is frustrating is I have just started, so cant have screwed up my character too much, and am still getting my butt handed to me.
