If they had them before hand then why try to immigrate and put such a burden on yourself? Oh that is because America is the great welfare state of the world.

Let me make one thing clear: THEY DON'T HAVE TO LEARN ENGLISH. I really don't care either way. The only thing I CARE about is my TAX money being spent on those who are a burden to the economy. Read some of the threads on AT. It is rare that some of these people pay their taxes in full or at all(/me waits to here the Corporations dodge taxes argument. Don't even try it).

I am definitely NOT anti-immigrant considering my family immigrated here several hundred years ago. What I do have a problem with is spending resources on something that only benefits a select few. They KNOW we will pay for the translators and the like. You know who it hurts? Joe six pack who gets caught in a fire, but there are not enough Fireman to save him. See, they replaced a majority of them with people who did translation and the like. Two big fires break out and what is the company to do? A translator is more expensive than three fireman.

Don't think my words come out of any immigrant bashing at all. I totally respect what these people have done by giving up everything and moving here. This country is a great opportunity, but that opportunity will DIE if people keep abusing the system.

BTW, most immigrants are treated like crap when they can't speak the language. They are taken advantage of, threatened, and sometimes pushed to financial ruin. Sharecropping has made a comeback in California Strawberry fields among Mexican and Asian workers. Lots of times people are harassed and forced to pay protection money in schemes because they can't speak english or are illegal here. They are afraid to contact the police and get taken advantage of. It is really a sh!tty situation because it is to THEIR advantage to learn english.

BTW, you are a moron. I don't make comments on AT unless I know what the fvck I am talking about. I kindly ask you ignore my posts if you don't like reality. Now buzz off.

Well then if you don't care if they learn the language or not, then why are you making it a big deal? Why not focus on the groups that are a burden to the system, rather than generalizing an entire group?

No, most of us are AWARE of that, but we know that the only solution is to HELP people learn the language. What solution do you offer? BTW, what foreign languages do you speak?

Where did i claim i speak any foreign languages? And what have YOU done to HELP people learn the language?

I donate money to the Alabama ILRC.

BTW, my post did focus on those who are a burden to the system. THOSE WHO DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH you obtuse moron. Goddamit learn to read.

Can you not read? Those who cannot speak English are the burden. Do I need to repeat it in moronic drivel so you may understand it?

"Do you have any clue as to what a legal immigration requires?"

Considering I know two people who have legally immigrated here from Canada, yes I am WELL aware of the process. A big hassle no doubt. Still doesn't change the fact that those who immigrate legally and speak English ARE not a burden and those who are illegal and can't speak english for the most part ARE a burden.

You still haven't addressed how they are taken advantage of. What is your solution on mighty goat molester?

And are you really this stupid? How many business owners are in the US that don't speak fluent english? AGAIN I ASK... DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THE IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS ARE? You either have to be a professional, or have a certain amount of assets. How many of the Chinese or Korean immigrants do you think are living off welfare? If anything, the average legal immigrant income is probably higher than the average american. The ones you see sponging off the systems are the ILLEGAL immigrants... and whether they speak english or not isn't the problem... i'm sure there are many that speak english and are living off the system.

Did i dumb it down enough for you?

And where did i say i have a solution? Everybody are taken advantage of daily... whether they speak english or not. Experience would hopefully have them be more careful.

I just realized the whole problem. You don't understand English yourself. I already said I was familiar with the requirements, because I know two people who have immigrated legally from Canada in the past few years.

"If anything, the average legal immigrant income is probably higher than the average american."

Give me a link for proof. Otherwise you are talking out of your ass.

"The ones you see sponging off the systems are the ILLEGAL immigrants... "

So there are no illegal asian immigrants?

"And are you really this stupid?"

No, actually you are the moron here.

"How many of the Chinese or Korean immigrants do you think are living off welfare?"

You tell me? You have ALL the facts so lets see them!

"How many business owners are in the US that don't speak fluent english?"

Umm... what is your point here? I would have to say(minus first generation immigrants) that 99.9% of business owners speak fluent English.

You were the one who called me an idiot first. If you look, I am destroying your arguments and YOU are sidestepping mine.

"Everybody are taken advantage of daily... whether they speak english or not. Experience would hopefully have them be more careful"

Fallacy. Just because people are taken advantage of to a certain degree, does not mean that immigrants who don't speak english aren't taken advantage of in a more harmful way. Boy you SUCK at debating.

So there are no illegal asian immigrants?

Wow, you really lack comprehension skills, don't you? Did i say there were no illegal asian immigrants?

The point is, knowing english or not is not the factor of whether they're a burden to the system or not.

Alright, you're obviously not understanding the point, despite how simple i need to make it.

It isn't, but most people know that it's the un-official language. It would be hard to claim ignorance of that.

immigrants who speak zero English should at least be required to take English classes in order to receive their green card.

So.... Breastfeeding is "not normal" in USA? Is that what you are saying?

Bwahahaha!

Don't you just love how people miss your point and read what they want to read just to fuel their own arguments?

So how did you girlfriend react when you told her to teach her mom some english?

she agreed with me, and i can get her on here to verify it. of the people in miami that don't speak english, 80% feel that si nce so many people speak spanish, they don't need to speak english. the other 20% are just too fvcking lazy. it's a shame that some places actually cater and in many ways encourage people not to learn english. what's funny is that, in miami, if you don't understand someone that comes up to you and starts speaking in spanish, it isn't uncommon for them to start mumbling words like "idiota" (idiot, duh) and say phrases like "por que no puedes hablar espanol?" (why can't you speak spanish.) that's just absolutely ridiculous. what i do when i go home is just pretend that i can't speak spanish. when people walk away, muttering under their breath, i'll just tell them "tenga un dia agradable, y regresa cuando puede hablar ingles" (have a nice day, and come back when you can speak english.)

and just a reminder - all i wanted was a goddamn "hello", or a simple "i don't speak english." this kid's parents have been staying in my house for 2 weeks now (illegaly, i might add) using the bathroom, kitchen, etc. how hard is it to teach your parents how to say "hello"???

I live in Santa Ana, CA. Anybody that knows the Orange Country area of California that my city is predominately Hispanic. Try being asian and living here.

So instead of ranting, why not help them and you might learn some Mandrain out of it. I did it for my folks and help them improve their English. English is one of the hardest languages to learn and even after that using correct English grammer can become tedious ordeal for a foreigner.

i live in a large house owned by a landlord. he rents out rooms (about 10) to students. that's how the real estate is setup for about a 1 mile radius around my school.

and i don't know why his parents haven't left yet. i heard a story where this romanian girl had her mother "visit" her early in the semester. it was 1.5 months later when the mother moved out of the dorm room, and only because the roommates complained to the school. it was an extremely uncomfortable environment. i hope my situation doesn't turn out like this one. legally, the landlord could charge the kid $50 per day per person extra that he has in that room. and my landlord is a jerk, so i don't doubt that he'd do it.
