Ok, i used to connect to the internet through a cable modem using USB. I have my new pc built so we have 2 pcs now. Im trying to get the network set up...I installed the NIC, plugged everything in easily. The internet (WAN) is connected as well as the LAN. But when i configure it the WAN has no properties (no ip, dns). I use cable so i selected dynamic ip, and auto obtain ip address is on. i tried the cloning of the MAC address, but i dont know what is wrong. In internet connections, the internet connection is connected and so is the LAN connection, but i cant browse the internet or anything.

Ok, what operating system are you running. Do you have a router or are you using Internet Connection Sharing on both computers? Does one computer have dual NICs so that you can run ICS?

why don't try to plug the cable modem into the computer directly via ethernet? set your TCP/IP properties to DHCP and see if you connect. Try power cycling the modem after you connect.

Am I correct to assume you're using ICS instead of a full-bird hardware router? If so, maybe you should consider getting one of those. ICS is junk and a cop out.

In my experience, the USB interface on cable modems is junk and a cop out, also.

Im using Win XP, a gigafast router and no on the ICS. I think the problem is getting the router to recognize the right ip from the modem maybe?
