I know that playing in the snow is fun - but not at 1:45 am when people are actually trying to sleep. I'm sick, and I know a lot of people who actually have to get up in the morning. Yet there these inconsiderate idiots who think there is a need to yell and scream at the top of their lungs in the courtyard.
I hope they all get they worst case of pneumonia. If a few of them die from it, that wouldn't be a shame either. This college would just be short a few idiots.

You ever wished you had a flame-thrower?

Seriously, though, I know how you feel... My brother has a habit of playing his goddamned Pokemon soundtrack at high volume. At 11:30 at night, when I have to get up for work the next morning.

My advice? Take a couple Tylenol PM, & bury yourself in your blankets. A waterbed helps, but that's just me.

Sucks ass. Hope you get some sleep. I hate loud people anywhere. Even at concerts, where it is not considered inappropriate. I live in a college town, and you'd better believe, I INTENTIONALLY live in an apartment complex filled with mostly faculty and graduate students. (Asian CS majors tend to be a quiet lot.) :)

just get napalm to make you scream even louder so you drown them out;)

but yes, i know how you feel, which is why i moved out of a mainly student apartment complex and about across town

You wouldn't be saying that if you would feel like crap and all you wanted was some sleep....

i like snow....lol. my floormates are loud as heck. there are a bunch of freshies a couple of doors down and it seems they have never seen beer before. they are always drunk and screaming and playing floor hockey in the hallway at 4 in the morning. they need to realize that some people have to sleep. i feel your pain. get naplam to shut them up.

Well, it took over an hour for the Department of Public Safety (fake cops), which didn't do a whole lot of good, and Napalm, being a sweetheart and telling them to be quiet, to get them to shut up.
Now, feeling worse than I did all day with an added bonus - a headache - maybe I'll finally get some rest.
Now you know who to blame if I'm grumpy and cranky tomorrow ;)

Never mind. I stand corrected. The dorm idiots are at it again :(

The exact reason I moved off campus into NON=college apartments. I have some old dude on the one side of me and 2 grad students on the other. We pay more in rent but it's definitely worth no have hearing a single peep out of anyone all year.

ahhhhhhhhh after 4 years some peace and quiet

Jesus H, we are all party poopers but I'm the same way. Ever since I hit 22 I've been like an old person - I listen to music loud sometimes by myself - but I can't stand loudness late at night!

toolgirl next time this happens find an elevated position, grab a nice box of .3030 rounds and I don't think you'll have to drop more than 1-2 of the people before they run away and you can get some sleep.

katonburg I hear that!

I spent first 3 years of university in residence. It was hellish. Loud people, no privacy, etc. Really brutal. Then in my last year I went in an apartment with 4 other people...it was much better but in the end the only way to live now is either by myself or with my girlfriend. Privacy and peace and quiet are worth a lot of rent money thats for sure.

Nah, forget the .30-30, grab the 'ole .10ga. and pop a few 3.5" turkey loads at them from about 100yds. That would definately do the trick ;)

Toolgirl, I feel your pain. I had to suffer an entire year living next to a football player with the loudest stereo in the dorm (oh don't worry, he had a powered sub to match), pumping 'til 3am some nights.

My advice, get out of the dorms next year (I'm assuming that's what you're living in from mentioning a courtyard). No privacy, public bathrooms, and roommates...need I continue?

No privacy/No roommates? Both her and I have single rooms, so that isn't a big problem.

You left out no cooking, no dishwashing, and no cheap Ethernet connection ;) Which would you rather have, DSL for 30 bucks a month, or 10 megabit for 7 bucks a month?

Toolgirl I can imagine just how annoying that could be.

For some reason I have never had a problem falling asleep no matter how much noise is present, course I have trained myself to fall asleep to incredibly loud music. But even if you don't like loud music sometimes some good headphones with some soft music playing will drown out the outside noise enough to fall asleep. Course you have to sleep on your back becuase of the headphones, and there is also that whole very scary thing of waking up with the cord wrapped around your neck, but hey everything has tradeoffs ;)
