Sucks. I hope whoever did this gets hit by a bus or something.

BTW, dumb question here....

why are airbags the most stolen/most profitable item? Never heard that before.

They cost or at least used to cost $1000+ to replace.

Now the big thing seems to be HIDs. My friend's S4's HIDs were stolen a couple months ago. Cost $3K to replace them not even adding in the cost of fixing the damage they caused when they used a crowbar to pry them loose.

If you go read on maxima.org, you will find that all the 2002 altimas and maxima's HIDs are getting ripped out, apparetly all you need is a low pro wrenche to slip under the edge of the hood, unscrew 3 screws, and they are away with your headlights, with NO damage to the car...

Luckily, some advanced securuty brackets were made by one of the maxima.org members iirc, and nissan will be using them from now on...

Notfred,
that fuggen sucks man, god I woudl feel so violated if that happened.

Very sorry this happened to you, notfred.
I as well got broken into twice, however the 2nd time I caught them in the act... I HAVE THE ANSWER TO STOPPING THIS SH!T and it only cost me $20@ Fry's electronics they sell you an IR REMOTE alarm ...it's called Driveway Patrol the alarm actually is a portable unit w/400 ft. range..the first nite they loosened up the stereo (I have a detachable faceplate) they were looking for it, the glove box was left open and generally set everything up to come back and make a quick getaway the next nite...well I put that little $20 jewel up the next nite and guess what?!?! the little white-trash punks came back @ 3:AM!!! they were really fast too, by the time I got out there they had already gotton into the car and taken the change out of the change tray

and Maggotry
this works much better

PUNK-KILLER

I scared them off (never saw 3 punks run so fast;) )
they made thier escape in a red Toyota P/U...didn't see it, was too busy checking my car out,a neighbor heard me yelling obsenities and got a partial plate...sooooooo if they come back a 3rd time I will block the only entrance/exit and if they try making the same exit, they just might endanger my life in thier getaway, and I just might get to use that neat little toy above... the next week I had an alarm installed on the car as well
