'God or Science' threads - Why they don't make sense.

Why is science compared to god, or seen as an alternative or contrasted with faith? Science is just a branch of knowledge conducted on objective principles involving the systematised observation of and experiment with phenomena, especially concerned with the material and functions of the physical universe. Nothing more. So how can someone not have a confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of science? Therefore, it is like asking if you either believe in god or if you think your favourite football team will win on the weekend. Or both. Or a bit of one and all of the other. Or a bit of both. It just doesn't make sense to single out science as a comparison to god.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

All I can say is, "hey - you wouldn't have a universe to study if God hadn't made it for you." 😉

The -OR- phrase is too exclusive. We are, to make it brief, comparing ideals or properties that are of different natures.

Choose now: which is more triangular: a sphere or a cube?

One day when the earth is a wasteland due to scientific tampering, "scientists" will be hunted down & burned at the stake as devils/demons/witches.

triangular is defined as having 3 angles, the sum of which is 180 degrees. A sphere has no angles to speak of, whereas a cube has 8 interior angles, hence a cube is more triangular.

I pretty much agree with everything you have said here.

I think the debate arises over the fact that science requires some sort of proof to support it's theories whereas religion is mainly based on faith.

The two seem to be so opposite, that they arrtact debate between them (kinda like Democrats and Republicans), if that makes any sense.
