God of War II

jeez. This game looks amazing!!!!! check it out at gametrailers.com or ps2.ign.com.

If you haven't played the first game, it was one of the best games that I have ever played.

Gotta be up there with Halo 3 (which doesn't really interest me as of yet), Mass Effect, Final Fantasy XIII, Bio Shock, Metal Gear (if it comes out in time) and my other personal favorite for the year, Assassin's Creed.

I can't wait. I hadn't played a game as fun as GOW since the early days of Nintendo. If the second is merely a clone of the original with new levels, it will still be good.

I wish more games of this type were still made. Too many FPS fanboys out there these days, so far too many derivative, boring games. God of War is easily the best game on PS2.

The reviews are trickling in and it's getting critical acclaim from everyone. The first one was absolutely amazing. One of the best action games ever made on a console. Given the fact that GoW II supports 720P -it's a technical marvel really.

This just might be better than the first (and I say that reluctantly b/c I havent played the it yet and I loved the first one so much), and not suffering from sophmoritis.

God of War 1 was awesome and GoWII could definitely be GOTY but I I still think GoW was overrated, Devil May Cry 3 was definitely the better action game of 2005 in my opinion.

EBgames is saying 3/13

My spring break is 3/9 - 3/18.

Hmm... go to Hawaii or play God of War II non-stop? It's a tough decision 😛

I thought that was debunked?

The first is that God of War II will not only be playable on the PlayStation 3, of course, but that it will run at a true HD resolution of 720p. We're unsure as of yet whether or not we'll see additional texture detail because of this, but we'll update this section of the review when we can test it. Editor's Correction: After posting the review, we've gotten word from an SCEA representative that the game will support 480p on the PlayStation 3 but not 720p. Our error was due to crossed information and we're sorry for the confusion. We will report back once we have the final copy in our hands.

Too bad I sold my PS2, I would definitely pick this up. The first one was fantastic!

While the first level in the game was amazing (sea level with the Hyrdas) I think the new one will top it. You run through a gigantic city while a huge statue of athena (and I mean huge) attacks you and destroys the city around you.

Bummer, concerning the 720P thing. 🙁

GoW supports 480P on the PS3 -I was juat playing it. But, the widescreen was apparently not true, cropping some of the image. Apparently this has been fixed in GoWII, so maybe that's why they're touting it so.

try Devil May Cry, hard to get into.

God of War? couldn't put it down. Like a Zelda from that aspect.

David Jaffe is working on GOW3 for PS3 at the moment while GOW2 was given to his protege (forgot his name) to develop. Can't wait for both.

It's the Colossus of Rhodes....I guess they're trying to explain what actually happened to the original statue through a video game 🙂

Cory Barlog (I was just reading an article in my EGM magazine)

Although I don't have a PS2 and only played a demo of the first GOW, I can't say much about it except that it looks very promising.

The fact that you don't even consider Crysis makes me...

😕

doesn't interest me because....1) I forgot about it. 2) its another FPS 3) its gonna take a MONSTER RIG to run it above 30fps.

Reviews in at IGN.com

9.5 - Presentation - A fantastic story with great voice acting, tons of extras and unlockables and more.
10 - Graphics - It simply does not get any better.
10 - Sound - God of War's score was flawless, and the sequel is a perfect follow-up. Oscar worthy to be sure.
9.5 - Gameplay - It's more of the same, but that's exactly what we wanted. Can action gaming actually get too much better on next-gen systems?
9.0 - Lasting Appeal - A dozen or so hours on your first time through is reasonable, but going back at the higher levels and finding all the extra goodies will take you a long, long time. Tons of bonus modes too.

9.7 - Overall

The review is glowing!!!!! Rogue Galaxy, Shining Force EXA, GoWII, FF12. The PS2 keeps chugging along.
