Just a question, why is God the part censored in "God Damn"?

That seems to be the inoffensive part of the phrase...

You're not supposed to use lords name in vain (improper or irreverent manner) religion nuts take it seriously. I don't say it because I don't enjoy pissing people off for no reason. I don't say it to muslims cause I don't want my head cut off.

Some of the bigger religions out there, Judiasim, Christianity, and even Islam, have laws against saying the lords name in vain. That has just sort of evolved into a rule that you should not use any word for deity as a swear.

That being said, it is a joke. Most of the censoring is so far off that it isn't really even censoring anything but silence.

The bleeping is weird with a lot of words. I don't watch a lot of TV anymore, but I seem to remember hole being the censored part of asshole.

God damns millions of things each year, what's wrong with asking him to damn what you want for once?
And there's nothing wrong with asking him for petty little things, like blessings following sneezing.

(I live alone, and I do sneeze at home, with no one there to bless me. Am I doomed, or what? "Bless you" when people sneeze.....makes no sense.)

Maybe it's a hold over from the middle ages when the act of sneezing carried with it a 50% mortality rate, and you needed some God blessings to cure you.

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a God."

And we have a winner. They censor the "God" because the sentence would make no sense otherwise. So either they could censor the whole thing when they could get by with a "Damn", censor the "Damn" and have a sentence that doesn't make sense, or censor the "God" and have a sentence that does make sense.

And, unless I'm mistaken, the FCC doesn't care about "God Damn" so whoever is censoring it doesn't actually have to.

For a related (but dissimilar) reason I'll sometimes use the phrase "Christ on a cock!"

Yes, fools do.
Odd that people worship a god they think is that dumb. Also, one would think that God would be more pissed when people do this than when they use his name in vain.
