Lol the orange monkey calling for Gen Lloyd Austin to resign for not revealing his medical issue. Coming from the control freak that didn’t temporarily transfer presidential powers to Pence during his medical issues.
Thanks for the memories.

That is one perspective, but another possible perspective has God not creating life at all . . .

God is said to have made domestic cats. But think about it. If you made a robot that tortured its victims before murdering them you would be spending your life in prison for the rest of your life. Why does God get away with it?... But if you think about it, humans bred domestic cats.

Lets take it a step farther. We know that life developed through evolution. Evolution is at its essence mutation, or corruption. For each success their will be many failures, and far more cancers and sufferings. It all seems rather cruel. Why would God even bother with creating life?

Then again, if we think about it, corruption is not really the domain of God. The book of genesis oddly claims Lucifer did the greatest act of creation. What if life was never Gods idea to begin with? Rather some angels science experiment gone wrong?

... if that is the case, well, God didn't create hitler, or rapists, or child molesters, or Trump.

Trump, Trump is a creation of the society that created him. Of his fathers teaching. Of his families relationships. Of the expectations placed on him. Of the schools he was sent to. Alot of humanity in that, and quite possibily very little of God.
Imagine if we took all the time and energy people wasted pontificating on Bronze Age fairy tales and put it towards something useful, we'd be so much better off.

I think you’re not using “born again” in the context that evangelicals use the term. And Episcopalians certainly do not traipse around declaring they are “Born Again” like evangelicals do.

“A Christian who has experienced a distinct, dramatic conversion to faith in Jesus, especially a member of certain Protestant groups that stress this experience. The expression recalls words of Jesus in the Gospels: Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (Seeevangelical.)”

Search is full of same thing…”born again” as a phrase defines as above.

True, Baptism is seen as born again in Catholics, Episcopalians, and others of same ilk, but is really discounted as such amongst evangelicals because Baptism happens within weeks of birth and doesn’t really count…infants cannot comprehend what it means, etc., and to be truly born again requires a profound affirmation/etc. of one’s faith and then a new Baptism. My first wife was/is Primative Baptist and my father’s side of my family has/had a bunch of Church of God (amongst others) members.

Heard it all from my dad’s parents and such that I needed to be born again or I’d rot in hell because me being Episcopalian was me being in a “bad” and misleading “religion” and my Baptism didn’t count.
Absolutely.

But if you were asked if you were born again on a survey, how would you answer? I would think most Episcopalians who were familiar with their theology would answer yes. If I was Episcopalian and baptized I would say yes.

There is also the ritual of confirmation, and the renewal of baptismal vows four times a year with the holy water being tossed on everyone during mass. How much more baptized can a person get?

As for what the Baptists and Evangelicals believe, well, that is their problem, is it not? It is not like they are the ones deciding who gets to be one with God. They do not get to define anyone but themselves.

-------------------------------

Unrelated humor:
So evangelical dies. Finds out people can just change their minds about being apart from God ( aka hell ) and pop, now they are one with God. They become very upset hell doesn't have any fire and brimstone. Are they upset about things enough to create a fire and brimstone hell and then personally jump into it just to be right? It is not like they can compel anyone into it. Do they organize and take turns at who gets to pretend being the daemon? I mean, to them it cannot be heaven without a fire and brimstone hell. --wink--

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Many great people embraced the bronze age fairy tales. Mainly because said fairy tales came with a community of people that were useful to know and make connections with. In other words, it is empowering.

I just don't see churches to atheism popping up, feeding the homeless, or getting together to have the political impact they should. And they need to. The Temple of Satan* is waiting for you. Or pastafarian. I for one find the Flying Spaghetti Monster to one of the most awe inspiring deities of our time. Embrace something, and the special tax status, organize, and become a force that hits hard. Or roll your own, whatever.

*the Temple doesn't believe Satan exists or worship anything. Rather Satan is a metaphor for resisting dogma and injustice of a dominating society. Or something like that. Basically, church for atheists. Big on charity and resisting evangelical stupidity, great people.

You just reminded me of this plate that I found at a Goodwill in Portland not long ago.NoodlyPlate.jpg

I am the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Thou shalt have no other monsters before Me (Afterwards is OK; just use protection). The only Monster who deserves capitalization is Me! Other monsters are false monsters, undeserving of capitalization.

There are plenty of secular charities out there. Not to mention the fact that Atheists tend to be liberals who vote for things like universal healthcare, better social safety nets, etc.... Leaving things like that up to religious charities is how we got here.

Of course you aren't going to see "churches to atheism" popping up because Atheism is not a religion. The Satanic Temple is satirical and the only reason it exists is to counter actual churches and religions that are doing all sorts of harm in this country (and elsewhere).

That was pretty painful to watch, lol.
I did NOT watch it. The description here is enough for me.

Trump during his term more than anything else played golf, didn't matter WTH was going on. He passed his briefs onto underlings, couldn't be bothered to read them. The oval office was chaos. His cabinet was a chamber with 3 revolving doors and swirling 35 mile/hour winds. He would have fired Fauci if he could have gotten away with it but people kept reminding him that he couldn't without taking a huge hit in the court of public opinion. He spent hours/day watching Fox News so he could dream up his public utterances.

Welllllll....and maybe McConnell lol. He's one foot out the door already, so I'm hopeful.
Don’t know, Moscow Mitch only reason why the senate R’s hasn’t turned MAGAtard. With him gone next leader won’t hold back the crazy.

Him exiting stage left won't undo it, but...he's also the reason there isn't another more rational justice on the SCOTUS, which will have longer-lasting effects. Especially now that they've turned to legislating from the bench.

McConnell can DIAF.

Exactly he’s done policy damage that won’t solve itself by tomorrow. While MAGAtards will explode in the next minute. Again the lesser of two evils.

The way I looked at it was this- he's not going to last much longer in any case, MAGA will outlive him IMO so keeping him around to keep them in check is very temporary. That being said...

Despite him now being the senate minority leader as opposed to majority leader, he still has plenty of political power/clout. He can still do more lasting damage while he's still actively involved.

I looked.

"Trump: We’re going to place strong protections to stop banks and regulators from trying to debank you from your— your political beliefs what they do. They want to debank you. We’re going to debank— think of this. They want to take away your country. Electric cars"

WTF, does that word salad even mean?
RWNJs make fun of Biden, but Brandon talks nothing like this orange moron.

That's some of those complete sentences Greenman believes Trump speaks in.

Ask the resident conservatives on here. One particular one, @Greenman, has stated on these forums how he loves Trump's ability to speak in complete sentences.
