God help me...Nvidia Vendors..and the Difference is??

Simply put, I am build a system and I have hammered out 90% of the details of what I want. Of course I am going with the SLI mobo...pci-x rules!

So now comes the video card....it will be either a 6600 GT or 6800 GT, but picking the vendor has become a bit of a pain. Does it really make that much difference?

Its really personal preference but BFG, Asus, Gainward, Leadtek, MSI, EVGA are all very nice.

too many threads not really answering the question, I ripped thru several found my brain numb...figure get a quick 'Dude, it dont matter but these are what I use...' kinda thing was what I needed.

BFG has a PCI-Express 6600 GT up for sale already. BTW, the abbreviation for PCI-Express is PCIe. PCI-X is a completely different interface.

I normally only buy Abit video cards. But for some reason they quit making Nvidia stuff and the new ATI stuff they haven't doesn't even have OTES. Sad...

I've had HORRIBLE experience with PNY and Visiontek, i'll never buy anything from them again. Same with Aopen. Since Abit doesn't make an Ultra for me to buy I am settling for an ASUS most likely. Asus makes solid products and even though I prefer the Abit in this case I have to get the ASUS. I was orignally set on getting the ASUS Ultra deluxe but they have a non-reference cooling design (single slot) and I decided that for sure that has to run a little bit hotter and it costs more. I think I am just going to get the ASUS v9999 Ultra (non-deluxe) Now there is a supply problem with the ASUS so I may be forced to go farther down the ladder of preference. I know others consider them differently but in my mind Abit and ASUS are top tier.

My thoughts are:

-BFG Tech looks exactly like the next Visiontek to me. Maybe it is both because they have "tech/tek" in them, silly as it sounds. That alone and the nightmare I endured with Visiontek is enough to make me not want to buy from them. Lifetime warranty doesn't mean anything to me and coming OC'ed from the factory doesn't do much for me. The price is good and looks as good as any of the other cards.

Even though the reviews i've seen on Gigabyte, Leadtek, Chaintek, MSI, and XFX have been pretty good I just can't see myself buying one. For some reason I can't get the idea of them being junk out of my head. I know others have had great luck with them though. It really is a personal thing.

So actually I am now considering the eVGA. It looks like another brand besides a non-existant Abit or impossible to find ASUS I could actually buy in good faith.
 
I've used eVGA and Gainward cards, and they've always been great.
Is Gainward really done making video cards? Completely?
