God damnit, my primary monitor's shaking.

Not that I don't want an LCD, but I was hoping to be able to hold off. FFS, this monitor isn't even a year old and it's already taking the piss. Visible side-to-side image shaking - we're talking like a quarter-inch spread here. Time to switch #2 in before the horizontal sync blows and tries to take my video card with it.

If I could move my head that fast, it'd put Thai hookers to shame. No dice.

That and I'm getting a ripping headache. Time to cruise Hot Deals to find something.

If it's not even a year old surely it's still under warranty? Are you sure you're running it at resolutions/refresh rates it's made to handle?

An LCD does rule though. Got a 2005FPW here. What's $500 anyway? Or...like...$5000 canadian dollars.

are you sure your not running your monitor out of spec? I found out the reason why my old 15" monitor was making a high pitched noise was because I was running it out of spec. I was running a monitor meant for 1024X768 60HZ at 1280X1024 75HZ. I thought if the monitor wasn't making any distortion, thats what it's designed resoultion/setting is. After setting it back to its designed resolution, its not making the noise anymore.

you wish you knew what you were talking about

Okay, I'm sorry, before it fries its horizontal output transistor. Happy?

Yeah, it's still under warranty. This does give me an excuse though. If I'd gotten in on the Dell Deal for CDN$600 shipped, I'd be happy. Also, if I take it back, I can get some nice store credit, so a Staples PM + rebate + credit would be optimal.

Positive. 1280x960@75Hz is nothing for an E90 - this sucker's good to 1792x1344.

My old 19" MAG did this. I gave it to my sister and lowered the refresh rate, resoultion, and the contrast + brightness and it went away. Still works 1 year later.

Take your feet off the desk while you're polishing the bishop and it won't shake anymore. Duh.

Hey, I need the leverage to do it myself - either that or three fat women and a team of Clydesdales to do the pulling for me.

You know, everyone always rants and raves about the 2001FP and other assorted bigass Dells. Dell uses Samsung LCD's. Samsungs are nice at all sizes. I should probably look into the 17" offerings. Wow, the 17's are cheap.

here is the thing, despite it being a lower resolution then the monitor's maximum, are you sure though that the monitor supports that resolution? Might wanna check the manufacturer's for technical specs. It would explain why in real player they check for all of these inane resolutions and you can see how the monitor can support higher resolutions but not low end to middle end.

I have the E90fb, and if I leave it on for a long time (sometimes I loop an MST3K episode while I sleep) it'll start to do a horizontal vibration, but it's very slight, you have to try to see it to see it. Just turning it off and on again fixes it. I've had it for a little over a year now... hopefully the problem doesn't get worse.

Lower it to 60Hz, it's not like you'll notice a significant difference. And it'll last longer so you can get the cash needed to upgrade.

YMMV greatly on that one :p

I personally would not run a CRT at 60Hz if I were going to be spending any significant time staring at it. If it's the monitor's time, then so be it. :p
