how is the US insurance going to help you in Canada?

Ahh much to learn you have my son 🙂 US insurance qualifies if the bike is kept in the a valid US zip code 50 % or more of the time. Since the riding season is like 4 months, that qualifies it 🙂 Plus most of the riding is done there anyways, we don't have anything here but moose.

so you store it down south? 🙂 That is interesting. 5500 for insurance??? I thought my 3000 for a stupid 2002 Protegé5 is bad (at fault accident...)

Yup, 40 bucks a month public storage in Buffalo NY which is an hour drive. Imagine that, 820 dollars in total per year with storage, vs $ 5500 in Canada with no storage. In 4 years time I could buy a new motorcycle with the money I will save on insurance. Honestly you Americans don't even know how lucky you are sometimes.

That is neat. I don't ride so no clue on the insurance cost etc.

Yes, motorcycle insurance sure is a great indicator of a country's performance. Considering it's a provincial matter, lol.

Not a provincial, everyone gets raped in Canada, guys in BC are really mashed because they have a monopoly company there which sets whatever price it wants. Being in the GTA, I do get higher quotes than someone rural, but still, not enough to justify the insane costs. The country performs poorly, it can't even win a stanley cup as of late, wtf is that. Maple Leafs highest paid team? 40 year loss streak?

Hopefully with Burke on board they'll actually bother to try to win the cup as opposed to just anal rape the (willing) fans.

but but but you have FREE healthcare!!!!!!!!!

😉

Whoever called it free is an idiot. Publicly funded, yes, free, no.

Free healthcare smuckcare, Id rather pay money out of my own pocket for healthcare and know where it's going to than paying the government 15 % tax on everything. Also what does a private insurance company have to do with Canadian healthcare which is government based?

Mmmm America, anyone want to sponsor me so I can get a green card? I have many talents and abilities, you won't be dissappointed 😉

PEI eh? nowhere else is still paying 15% sales tax 🙂

That's $500 US and $5500 CAD right? If so it's pretty much the same price. Not a hot deal imo.

You fail at currency conversion. $1 USD = ~$1.20 CAD. With current rates $500 USD = $615 CAD. $5500 CAD = $4475 USD

err, where can you get US dollar for C$1.20? I need some 23K of US dollar to pay for my E350 4Matic and I don't see 1.20 anywhere...More like 1.30

What I want to know is why are Canadians so mean? The people at the border seem to hate the Amerikaners...

It's just you 😉

In fact, Ontario is so gay that if we spend over 5 dollars on food, there is a food tax you pay.

Is this an additional tax on top of the sales tax? If so, that sucks.

he doesn't know what he is talking about...

Provincial Sales Tax in Ontario is 8%
Federal Sales tax (GST) is 5%

On processed food item above 4 dollars, you would have to pay PST+GST=13%

Sales tax has not been 15% in Ontario for oh about 2 years now.

There are generally two tiers of service tax in Ontario, PST and GST which are 8% and 5% respectively. Another one called RST replaces the PST when you buy things like food, and applies above $4. So essentially you're paying normal tax above $4 and only 5% below that.

RST=PST, just a name issue, Retail Sales Tax or Provincial Sales Tax. Whichever one shows up depends on the POS system in use.

don't forget the tank

I think the insurance companies were wise enough to not require the tank to be insured.

Do McDonalds in Canada have a dollar menu?

Nope we have the 1.39 + 15 % tax menu.

You guys have harmonized tax (GST+PST)?

We only have GST (BC) on food items 5% but not on all food items 🙂

Cheers,
Aquaman

Ontario has PST, not HST.
Op apparently didn't get the memo that GST changed to 5%

If getting a green card was easy I would of long ago, my whole family would. I'm actually going to apply to the lottery and see how my luck fairs, they only select a certain amount every year from it.

Not sure what that means, but I am assuming you want to buy things on newegg and ship them to me, and then I will reship to you in order to avoid the gangster tax 😀

Alright I see how it is, don't want to hook up a fellow T Dot brother 😀 I thought we had something going there for a bit.

WTF

I am paying for 2 cars and my total insurance bill is $1200 per year.

as for the Maple Leafs, who cares about them?

I did not realize insurance being retarded was a Canada thing. I got a quote to insure my 98 buick - 5 grand. What I paid for the car? 4 grand... yes, insurance was HIGHER then the price of the car. Insurance is stealing legally.

If I tried hard, I could probably understand why you would want to forget about the time when CAD was worth more than USD.

I am paying 3400 for 1 2002 Protege5. I had an at fault that cost 8000 to repair. Here is a tip, if you are going to rear end another vehicle, pick one that has lower bumper than you 🙁 I dug under a 4Runner (at about 5kmph by the time I hit him) with steel bumpers, fucked my front end badly.

I watch the leafs hd broadcast in the comfort of my house on my 8' wide screen 🙂 on centre ice camera, the players are life size 🙂
