God a War. Another MUST own for PS2 owners!!

Slipped under the radar? I've heard nothing but hype of this game for the past year. Any previews I've read have proclaimed this as the next coming, and frankly, I'm surprised the reviews are backing up the hype. If you like Gamespot's review, check out IGN's 9.8 write-up. 😀

Yeah I've been seeing it a lot, on TV, in the stores, etc. I think you are a bit off on the slippage.

Doh! Really? I guess my lack of web surfing time since the new job is starting to take effect. 🙁

Still, looks like fun! fun! fun!

Its in the ol ebcart. My friend beta tests games for Sony and said "YOU MUST GET THIS GAME". Thats the best review I can give right now.

I never heard of it until it came out either Warcrow... I'll have to wait till it's in the bargain bin though, still playing catchup on games and code.

I saw Kevin (Screen Savers) interview one of the guys who developed the game at Sony. He said that it's been three years in the making and that Sony was great about giving them all the time and money they needed to make an awesome title. It looked like a cool game from what they showed.

Oh man, I hear you. Planning the wedding and this new job has not left me much time. We still have Resident Evil 4 (probably about 1/2 way through it), Devil May Cry 3, A Bard's Tale, and Kristin just bought Champions of Norath 2. Not to mention, someone gave me Pirates for my b-day.

All this, and I'm still considering getting a PSP and Brothers in Arms since its on sale. 😛

I obviously have a problem, lol.

Champions 2 is definately on my must own list... as is RE4.

Seems like there are quite a few PS2 exclusive titles out there that make buying a PS2 a priority! Im a sucker for rpg / hack n slash type games

Goddamn this stupid ass forum... I just broke my 5.5 month non-game buying streak because of this stupid forum. I cant even play God of War tonight either. I hate you all.

I played it for an hour. Just felt like so much more of the same game as the first. It got boring.

I'm going to try and rent God of War just to see what it's like. The reviews have been excellent.

Champions 2 was supposed to be more of the first, with a few upgrades. 😉 That's why I want it. I played the first SOOO much.

Kristin and I ahve played about 1.5 hours of it. Its more like like Baulders Gate and Chapions combined, which is a good thing. There is still no jumping though. 🙁

(I know jumping is useless in the game for the most part, but it was fun to jump around and sh!t.)

so... has anyone played it yet?

I got home from work early, did some errands with the wife for our Easter Saturday dinner, then came back to get completely lost in this game... the lady yells downstairs "you getting hungry?" I look at the clock and 3.5 hours passed... just like that.

It's so incredible. I love this game so far...

My few issues come in the fact that some moves require you to tap buttons, it's *kind of* easy, and I seem to be finding a lot of hidden stuff fairly easily. Those are really minor quibbles though.

Also, please note this game is NOT for kids at all. There is actual nudity in it starting at the end of the first level where Kratos is seen post-coitus after being doubled up by a pair of strumpets. The gorgons are topless (even though they're green) and there's blood and gore everywhere.

Who would have thought greek mythos could be so damn cool? 😀 Go buy it now, even though I hate you guys for making me buy it, it's totally worth the cash money.

Holy fvck man - this game is amazing. It feels very Devil May Cryish, but that's only me speaking from playing the first game, not the second or third (which I plan to pick up @ some point in time - probably after GoW is done~ 😀)

I agree with Modeps in that the Controls seem kind of simplistic, but it looks as though the more you upgrade your weapons, etc the more combos that they unlock - So I'd imagine that it gets more advanced at some point, but trust me I'm not complaining! 😀

Congrats on lifer wolfman 😉

If I didnt have company coming over today, I think I'd probably beat this game very quickly just because I dont want to stop playing whenever I start. It's just addictive and SOOOoo cinematic. I love it 🙂 I guess beating Pandora Tomorrow will have to wait (yeah, I havent even beaten the second level of that one yet)

OMG, I cant say enough about this game, it's gone from my favorite ps2 action title to one of my favorite games of all time. It's really THAT good.

Hm, I really don't generally like devil may cry / legacy of kain style games due to the overly simplitic style of gameplay. Don't care about the controls. It just seems like the same battle over and over again. Does this game break free of that problem? Ninja Gaiden was close, I liked it but eventually it ran out of steam too.
