true, but talking right now.

What's going on "right now?" Property values going down for you and you? Property values in my county have done nothing but gone up since I've been living here (7 years.) It's nice to have real estate that has appreciated in value (and has always been more valuable than an M3), except that it also means slightly higher taxes each year.

Me - personally, I'd go with the goat herd and orchards, rather than the M3. The M3 would never be able to haul my boat. I was lucky enough to get both a farm and goat herd, with a lot of apple trees and a lot more apple trees on adjacent state land. Plus, I just put in more apple, peach, pear, and cherry trees, as well as a dozen + raspberry and blueberry bushes & concord grapes. And, just yesterday, I picked another container of thimble berries from down by my stream; saw signs of some nice sized deer. I think this spring, I'm going to run some tubing along a row of dozen or so maple trees and tap them to make maple syrup.

Everyone knows that if you have the money to maintain an M3 and the image that goes along with it you are far too busy to post on forums.

So I'll take the goats and orchards. 😀 Honestly, though, I would love to own a farm if I had a little help and someone to show me the ropes. Especially here in NY, there are some beautiful places. I'm sure it's a ton of work though.

Even if I somehow won an M3 or got one for free I would just sell it and get a 1967 Mustang fastback.

That is one of the official indicators of a ghetto. Expensive cars parked at shitty houses are all the rage in the hood.

True...I don't quite live in da 'hood, but it's coming too close for me. So I am moving out.

My mortgage payment was $2300. No crazy mortgage involved, a straight up fixed 30 year loan.

My car payments are almost that, but my next place will be more epic.

My first car was a 1966 Mustang GT, fully restored. Why would I step back. Enjoy: http://www.30moons.com/cars66GT.php

Sadly, my days are usually pretty free as I work off hours as a consulting engineer. Also my company wants everyone to only have a 40 hours work week. So I can leverage working at 2am if I feel like it and post outside that.

But fuck yeah, my last BMW maintenance was $4000 at 40k. Oil Change, front rotors, 2 sets of pads, rear brake adj, sunroof felt, valve adj, real axle seal leaking, CDV delete, probably some more stuff...like I care.

Double Sadly...my dad had me at his house today to replace his own brakes (they drive mountains on vacation a lot) and an evaporative canister. While I pay for this now, I love the guy and he set me up to know what I had to do in life whether it was sinking or swimming.

In the end, I love my job...it pays me well, works on my time and I can keep learning more and more and they will pay me more and more.

Nice car. 🙂 Too bad it was destroyed. 🙁

Yeah, that was a bad lunch thanks to old lady moses.

I bought a 1988 Mustang GT (sadly no pictures exist since my jealous ex burned them all) in 1990 after that. T-Tops, Dove Grey with a red interior, owned by a Lincoln-Mercury exec so had extra options. It had everything short of a supercharger at the time. I sold it to go to college for a Marin Bear Valley SE mountain bike + cash 🙂.

Goat is damn tasty when it's curried.... I'm voting for that.

Besides, the M3 as basically a glorified Volkswagen Golf, right? I already have a nicer car than that.

I can agree with the first since I love me some Golden Krust.

An M3 and a Golf are seriously no where near each other.

What do you drive?

So awesome. I'd love to own a place like that.

so since you brought it up, whats your goat farm worth? I don't think most of our forum wants to live like the Waltons really.

That said my home is worth $80-100k, I have a 265k note. My bank fucked up so I am free!

That's the alky I know! He who dies with the most money wins.

What...I'm not really sure. 😕

I would just say that those who voted for the farm because it's worth more, voted incorrectly.

why would you say that? your poll was "what would you rather own". if an individual's personal preference is to amass valuable things, then the farm is likely what they'd rather own. your poll had no such stipulations that this is an incorrect vote.

also, poll votes should have been public.

Because most people own things that are valuable to them and don't collect them because they are valuable to others.

Hidden polls allow people to vote ideas rather than personas.

I honestly don't understand buying a performance car in the U.S.. Waste of your money as you have a car that goes 150+ miles an hour on roads where you can't go faster than maybe 85 or so. Maybe I just lack self control but the faster the car the faster I feel comfortable going. It's a recipe for massive tickets on top of the already massive maintenance and insurance costs. If we had an autobaun an m3 would be the shit, but as it stands now I'd spend it on something I could actually use properly. That being said I'd still take the m3, have some fun in it and then leave it in Oakland with a free sign on it and the keys in the ignition.

Come on, you know better. Location matters. If I had 18 acres in downtown Manhattan, I'd be a billionaire. It's a comfortable 3 bedroom (with a 4th room considered an office, since it doesn't have a closet) home, with a dining room, kitchen, living room, sun room, 2 1/2 car attached garage. Though, fairly soon, 1 bedroom is going to enlarge the master bedroom & become a master bathroom.

I'd take the M3.

So I could sell it to some self-absorbed douche and use the money for something worthwhile 😀

Bolded the answer for you 😛
