the story is basically like this:
three guys (guy A, B and C) were friends since little. One of them was sexually molested as a child (he was told by a cop to get into a car, and brought into a cabin).

Then we go to when they are adults. Guy A is married and has a son (Tim Robbins?). He lives a normal live, but still kinda fuked up as a person since he was molested. Guy B becomes kinda of a gangster thing (sean penn), while guy C becomes a cop (kevin bacon). Guy B has a daughter, and this girl was found dead near a ditch. Guy C takes this case, and Guy B got pissed and swear to kill whomever killed his daughter.

Guy A comes home in the middle of the night with his hands bleeding, and his wife noticed this. Guy A's wife suspects that guy A killed Guy B's daughter. Guy A denied it completely.

Then guy A's wife told Guy B that she believe that her husband killed his daughter... and guy B got pissed and killed guy A.

In reality guy A DIDNT kill guy B's daughter, he actually found a child molester molesting a kid at the same night that guy B's daughter was killed. SO he killed that child molester and put in the trunk.

SO then guy B realized that he killed the wrong person (and a friend to boot). Guy C also knows this but he doesnt do anything

THE END

of course I left lots of details and foreshadowing, but that is basically the plot line

No way in hell is Sean Penn and Tim Robbins getting any of my money.

I'll wait for it to come out on HBO if I really feel the need to watch it.

Mystic River was OK. It was no Godfather nor was it Freddy got fingered. This is not another Unforgiven (Eastwood's Masterpiece IMO).

to paraphrase ebert, a good film is never long enough, and a bad film is never short enough.

Saying one watching two hours of a TV show is pointless.

If someone never watched the show it would be new.

If someone regularly watches the show then it would be entertaining.

That argument follows closely to everytime a movie comes out with 3 or more chicks in it it is compared to Charlie's Angels.

they dont support the war so im not going to see that movie!!!
gimme a f'ing break.

By the way, Penn deserved the Golden Globe that he won. If he doesn't win the Oscar for his performance there is something very wrong with the "Academy."

Penn's performance was moving and brilliant. If you have kids, then Penn's role will hit you like a Mack truck on the Autobahn doing 110mph.

They have their opinions, and acted on them in ways I found quite objectionable. Therefore I see no reason to financially support them by paying to see their movie. That is MY opinion, and me acting on it.

So why don't YOU give ME a freakin' break, eh?

The wife and I watched it because it was a Clint Eastwood production and we weren't impressed. We both had the ending of the movie pegged about half way through, which kind of made it a disappointment. I also thought that Last Samurai was a better movie than Mystic River was.

Did u think Cruise delivered a better performance than Penn?

I think Penn conveys anguish much better than a drunken Cruise yelling in the dark. He's just easier to believe.

Although I liked The Last Samurai, it was a different type of film (action) and thought they could have covered the Japanese culture alot better (still felt "Americanized").

My qualms with Mystic River are that it was too coincidental at the end... didn't like the ending, but the script was based on the book.

Rottentomatoes pretty much echoes my sentiments.
