i thought this was a funny funny movie.

I'll be sure to check it out. I remember this movie was supposed to come out last september but because of the 9/11 attacks and it's story line, they pushed it back.

yea, after watching it, i think pushing it back was definitely a wise move. it would not have done too well

one of my friends described it as "get shorty" but maybe less funny. i've never seen "get shorty" so i don't know. it's one of those large number of people, one common goal, mayhem ensues, types of movie... like lock stock and two smoking barrels, or snatch... but american of course.

Get Shory is one of my ALL TIME favorites!

I am going out of town in two weeks so I wil try to catch it then!

I heard the movie was terrible. Which is too bad because the original book by Dave Barry is a complete riot. I think a lot of that might be the way Dave Barry writes, though. Without his personal delivery, I could see how it might not be as funny on film.

I have not seen the movie but I read the book. I thought it was decent but nothing special, and blatantly ripped off the much funnier crime novels of Barry's friend and fellow Floridian, Carl Hiassen. Hiassen's books have gotten increasingly formulaic over the years, but I challenge anyone to read his earlier stuff, like Double Whammy or Skin Tight and not laugh out loud at least once per page.

for some reason i read that and thought of "get carter" rather than get shorty, and i thought of the original british version of that film which wasn't funny at all so i was confused for a minute or two. the original version on dvd is awesome, looks like it was filmed last year though it was filmed in 1971.

If you like this kind of thing, have you read Carl Hiassen? He puts Big Trouble to shame.

I read a review by a guy who I've found to have tastes similar to mine, so when he pans a movie, I usually listen.

No prob - I would be amazed if you did not enjoy him. I recommend starting with Double Whammy, a side-splitting tale of murder and intrigue in the professional bass-fishing circuit.

Holllllly sheyot, Carl Hiasson is HILARIOUS. You have to read some of his stuff if you haven't heard of him. "Stormy Weather" is my favorite, but most people like "Striptease" <--yes, THAT striptease.

Get Shorty was a FANTASTIC movie. I highly recommend it.
