Now-a-days OT games in the regular season are only 5 minutes long and can end in a tie. Before that, they were 20 minutes long and could also end in a tie. I don't think games ever went to more than 1 OT in the regular season, but I could be wrong.

Actually when you look at the replay it is no goal according to the rules of the nhl 🙁

Yeah, but if the ref thought the Stars player deliberately pushed Thomas into the net(looked like it to me) he could have awarded the goal, or a penalty shot, regardless of what replay said. Actually I think if they called the push into the net then it would be a delay of game. If the Star did it then I think it would be a penalty shot. penalty shots are hard enough but in the playoffs unless your a pure goal scorer then you have a very low chance of making it.

Indeed, and Joe Juneau muffed the shot cause the Ice was so bad...
They were giving each team a Power Play each OT in that one if I recall...Nedved's game winner was on a power play too.
