the fact that he accomplishes all he has without using illegal drugs and just through pure determination and fvcking hard training is simply amazing. an inspiration to myself.. and hopefully an inspiration to all.

No, five. Held by Eddy Merckx, Jaques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, and Indurain. Only Mig won 5 in a row though.

Things are looking good for Lance fitness-wise since he just got done whipping everyone's ass in the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré which is more or less a week-long mini-Tour.

who are the big opponents? i know of Jan Ullrich, as well as Beloki from ONCE. who else? my friend mentioned a previous postal rider..
 
Hmm...kinda hard to say. The guy your friend is talking about is either Tyler Hamilton (now with CSC-Tiscali) or Levi Leipheimer (Rabobank). Other guys that could contend are Iban Mayo (second in the Dauphine'), David Millar, Christophe Moreau, Garzelli (second in the Giro) has been making noise about the Tour.....there are others but really no serious contenders this year IMO.

Simoni (the Giro winner) can climb like a demon, but odds are he won't take as much time out of Lance in the mountains as he'll lose in the time trials.

Man, one of my scariest crashes was on my mountain bike.

Don't try a bunny hop when you:

a. don't really know how
b. are going twenty mph next to traffic
c. have a loose headset
d. aren't wearing a helmet (cause, y'know, bicycles are slow)

I had a bunch of spare change in a pocket, landed right on it, the change went scattering all over the road, and if you used your imagination (which I did), it sounded like my body broke into a million pieces.

Heh...actually one of my worst-ever crashes on a road bike was a high-side. I was in a criterium (in a solo break with about a 10-second gap on the pack.....dammit) when I blew out my rear tire in a corner. As soon as the pressure went out of the tire, it rolled off the rim, the rear end (now sliding on the rim) came around on me and finally caught....pitching me ass over teakettle off the side of the road in classic MotoGP fashion. 😕

Kids....don't try that at home.

 
I heard on ESPN radio that at the level of cardio he's doing, college aged athletes can only average to do for 30 seconds. He can do it for an hour.
 
he should be an inspiration to us all. he won the tour 4 times with only one nut! i mean. here we all are with 2 nuts. he makes me want to be a better person. 😛
