this is a p3 on a Gigabyte mobo with a u.s.robotics pci non-winmodem. Man, any suggestions would be GREATLY Appreciated!!!

Thanks--Chris

I'm not sure if I know what you mean.

yes the phone line goes into the modem in my computer, but doesnt pass through to a seperate phone. My phone is on a seperate jack in the house.
It boots up my computer when someone calls or I try to call someone.

I know they have wake on LAN but is there a wake on Modem? Maybe your motherboard supports this and it's enabled??
If that's possible I didn't know it would power up your machine I just thought it waked it up from suspend mode.

My Aptiva had this feature. If it rings the computer boots up. YOu can change this in the BIOS or on the motherboard. Check your mobo manual.

Yes, I went to gigabyte website to see if I can figure something out since I dont have the manual, but I think your right, I believe it is in the bios. I feel like such an idiot, I just never ran across this with any other mobo I've worked on before. Thanks Guys I appreciated the help.

Look in the BIOS under Power Menu. You will have something like WakeUpOnRing or WakeUpOnModem. Try to disable that and that will do the trick for you.
