Rice rebukes Iranian leader over Israel remark
Secretary of state stops in Israel during Mideast trip

JERUSALEM - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her strongest rebuke yet on Sunday to the renewed hardline Islamic leadership of Iran, saying that ?no civilized nation? can call for the annihilation of another.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10027878/

I personally think its an incredibly good thing to do. I have to applaud her as it takes a lot of personal consience to do this in a volatile region such as this. But it WAS the right thing to do. No country claiming to be 'civilized' can call for the destruction of another. It is despicable.

Now I don't necessarily agree with neo-cons all the time but I think too many times the left gets very negative about EVERY action this administration takes. So for once, I say cheers to the Bush administration for doing whats right and ignoring the fallout. That takes a lot of strength.

Somehow, I doubt Condi would say anything if Iran was talking about destroying Pakistan or Syria.

Or North Korea.

Maybe because they are not democractic countries?

That wasn't her logic though. She said that no civilized country can call for the annihilation of another. A surprisingly principled statement considering the source, but I'll admit I agree with her. That is to say, I agree with what she said. But I'm suspicious of what she was actually thinking when she said it. Somehow I don't think many countries other than Israel would have triggered it.

Can some of you people EVER be anything but ultra cynical ?

Really disgusting, you people need to get out more or something and perhaps you'd be less hateful... and besides who wants to follow the thinking of someone who is as hateful as some of you are anyway.

Please, it's the loving Christian fundies that are killing the Iraqis. Hate is refreshing compared to love that kills.

Wow.

Easy there, chief. Since when did mild questions about the motives of a political statement become "ultra cynical" or "hateful"? I see nothing wrong with the comments, the only person going off the deep end for no reason seems to be you.

The first three comments are basically sniping and are not "analytical," just people jumping in to vomit up some bitterness on what is essentially a good thing. Your comment Rainsford was a tad more in depth

Kindasleazy is against nations destroying other nations?

How does she explain Iraq?

Also:

The Wall Street Journal similarly reported that 17 months after Condoleezza Rice promised a full investigation into Ahmad Chalabi's alleged leaking of American intelligence to Iran, F.B.I. investigators had yet to interview Mr. Chalabi - who was being welcomed in Washington last week as an honored guest by none other than Ms. Rice.

How does the lying hypocrite explain THAT?

How do you Kindasleazy worshipers explain that?

I am not familiar with anyone by the name of Kindasleazy, but if you mean Rice, I will say that Chalabi is almost certainly a scumbag, and its a shame hes in the government, but its more important to get this government going on a right track and showed unified support, us with them, than it is to start bickering with Chalabi... the time for that is later when things are more stable. Behind the scenes though I would not be opposed to trying to keep him out, hopefully he is arrested eventually

So it's better to support the liar who fed the moron any story he could fabricate as long as it led to Bush's unprovoked attack on Iraq, the liar who traded secrets with the "Axis of Evil" member Iran, as long as gets "this government going on a right track"???

How the hell can you get a government going on a right track by supporting someone with those credentials?

Do you actually believe the nonsense you spout or are you being facetious?

The lies of George W. Bush are responsible for every casualty in Iraq.

True, our conscience should be more global.

But I think its a start bro. Don't you :)

We must rise above this and make a better party.

Edit: spelling... sorry.. .tired :(

Fair enough, although I thought Proletariat was being truthful...that IS a difference between Israel and the other places mentioned. Maybe Rice would view it the same way? In any case, I still think this thread is pretty good for P&N ;)

Let me make clear I did not mean Proletariat's post, I meant the three negative posts before yours. (These: )

"Somehow, I doubt Condi would say anything if Iran was talking about destroying Pakistan or Syria. "

"Or North Korea".

"Or France"

I give them ZERO credit for this. They created the situation that made it necessary fo Iran to develop their nuclear arsenal. They made it necessary for Iran to elect a strongly anti-U.S./Israel president (Axis of EEEEVIIILLLL), they created the conditions that have de-stabilized the region, they have our troops tied up in a failed, unnecessary war and unable to respond to Iran actually doing something. The Bush admin has put America in a weakened position.
So Condi wags her finger....Big fat deal. Maybe she should have been smarter during Bush's first term.... We could have avoided all this.

I'm following this thread and laughing.

!. OP says something positive about Rice, Re: Irans bad atttitude

2. in less than three posts, others cynical comments and mild suspicion to motives

3. A few posts later the trolls arrive, spout garbage and blame Bush for Iraq.

4. Thread disintegrates into soapbox proselytizing about their mindless mantra.
