Does anyone know how i can get rid of Mcafee anti-virus? I have tried the unistall, and it fails each time. Is my only other option to go in and delete the folder??? If i do this will this still leave entries in the registry that will conflict with Norton Anti-virus? In case it helps I trying to do this on a XP machine... Thanks for any help.

The uninstall instructions for McAfee Virus Scan takes 5 pages of information.

Take a look around their site.

If you have a System Restore date that preceeds McAfee's installation, you can revert to it and not have it in the registry. Once you try to uninstall and it fails, you are somewhat screwed. Have you tried Norton's Clean Sweep on it? As a last resort, you would have to do a manual registry scrub for all the named McAfee components.

If the installation information was erased from the Registry (perhaps as a result of System Restore), then the best way to uninstall is to actually install the program again, THEN uninstall it. That way, all the necessary uninstallation data is recorded somewhere during installation and removing the program shouldn't be a problem after that.

Read the readme.txt that comes with the software. It tells you how to manually uninstall mcafee by deleting the files and registry entries.
