Gnome 2 Title Bar Autohide

This is going to sound like a quirky little issue I'm having but just bear with me. I like to have my web browser full screened on my pc and I've set compiz to not add a title bar onto Opera to maximize my screen real estate. I also always autohide both the top and bottom Gnome bars.

This causes a bit of an issue where when I go to the top of the screen to select a different tab I always hit my autohidden taskbar. Any ideas on how to avoid this Perhaps add a delay onto the autorevealing when opera is my main window? Something else? Dunno just a thought.

Heres a SS of the issue:

You might be able to tweak it in a config file somewhere, but I'm not sure where that would be. As a workaround, maybe you could put the panel on the side instead of the top. You'd be less likely to accidentally raise it there.

This is the story of my life with Linux. I'm sure it can be done somehow. I just never know how.

That's the nice thing about GNU/Linux; just about anything can be done; you just lack the knowledge to pull it off atm. With proprietary software, some things can't be done, regardless of how knowledgeable you are :^)

I found where to edit the time in gconf-editor with no problem. I just don't see a way to change the setting based on the currently focused application.

You might have to do some coding to get that. It would be conditional behavior. You could collapse the panel completely, but you'd have to re-expand it when using other apps.

Urgh too much work. I think I'll just move the address bar over the tabs bar because I never manually type in addresses anyway.
