GMail RSS feed...?

I have a huge amount of respect for Google's capability to turn out stuff that customers want and need, but what's with the RSS feed on my Gmail???

I'm having a hard time figuring out what they were thinking.....

My Fiancee's gmail has had this for close to 6 months now... I was angry because I actually liked it... I set mine to only show Slashdot RSS feeds - so it's actually kinda cool...

thanks to all the geniuses who pointed out that I can disable it... that is obvious.

my question is what were they thinking ??? GMail has a very functional, uncluttered interface that excels in delivering the email functionality, and a very competent search function that enhances the email experience... supported by ads which are for the most part unobtrusive, and maybe even useful to some. so far so good... and then they crap it all with RSS feeds....!!!

I can understand the use of that on my customized home page... but on my email..????

Is Google finally beginning to mess up?

No, they aren't... I would hardly say that the RSS feed is cluttering up their interface...
