Hi Everyone! I have an unusual problem with gmail and would like your input on this.

A few months ago one of my gmail accounts informed me that an IP from out of the country was logging into my account. I immediately changed my password and scanned my computer with MS Security Essentials, Panda Cloud, and Trend Micro. I forgot if I found anything back then, but my computer seems fine from all those scanners now. Anyway, I also turned on the feature where I get a text with a code every time someone tries to log into my account. So, there's no way they could access it without my phone.

Last night I received a "Google account recovery" email. On that email listed 3 of my other gmail accounts that I assume someone is requesting a password recovery for. I can't read it because it's a Google email in chinese for some reason. Here's my questions regarding that issue:

  • How did someone know about my 3 other accounts? I assume perhaps I have a keylogger or trojan and they found out that way. But...
  • I did not change the passwords for those other accounts, so why request for a password recovery if they already have my password via the keylogger? Unless it wasn't a keylogger.
  • I logged into those other accounts and didn't notice any unusual IP activity from the log. I'm also in the process of scanning my computer again, but I just scanned last week and there was nothing.
  • I don't use wifi often but I do use a wireless 3G card. I only log in through https sites, but would someone still be able to see me type my username through a wirelsss? And perhaps an excrypted password? That's why they have my account name but not my password?
  • This is the first time I received a Password Recovery from google that contained 3 accounts in the same email. Usually it's just 1 account and a specialized link. This one didn't have a specialized link, just the 3 accounts with a link to general account info. I'm sure it's an official Google email too. Again, it's in chinese so I can't read it.
So I'm just wondering if I have an infected computer, despite nothing found via MS Security, Panda, or Trendmicro. I can't understand why someone would try to recover my password if they already know it. I'm hoping the email is about something else and I just don't know it.

Your input would be appreciated. Thank you!

You are probably fine. Change the recovery email address to another account if you want. Every time you sign up for something or input your email address out there it makes it easier for people to get it.
