Set it up in outlook 2003, use to work fine
Now it downloads, but wont send. Going on day #3 this has happened

Yeah. POP is receive only. (Note the capitalization as well. PoP is point of presence, indicating an ISPs physical server/router/dialup location.)

Using your own ISP for sending may not be feasible if you're on the road of course.

Of course I don't have an account, so I don't know how the servers are set up.

There should be error messages. You might start there.

oh
was just following the instructions on gmail.com on how to setup pop/smtp
They say to use their server
Not working either way =.

I believe in this instance POP is used to refer to POP3 (Post Office Protocol) and not to Point of Presence

Gmail POP downloading is a pisser for me... it grabs the entire conversation string. And even if that's not a bother, it seems to grab stuff that you've archived too. I set it to grab mail from "now on" back on 12/16 because there's no better option for just grab new mail. 😕 What setting do you use in the Gmail POP settings to keep it downloading just new stuff (or just new conversation strings) ?

*1/11/04 ^ is this working right now ? It started failing for me since last night (using Trillian plugin to connect via POP).

i dont see a reason why it should not work for sending, they even change the SMTP port instead of using the default 25 which my ISP blocks.
