Gmail Notifier stopped working

I was hoping for something that would automatically open my Gmail when I clicked on a link on a web page to send an email. Google notifier worked very well for that for a few months. Now, it gives an error message about not being properly installed, and it rapidly open one window after another until it has open about 50 new windows.

Has anyone else had that problem?
Is there a fix or a better program to use?
I don't care about the notification as much as I just want to click on email links, an have it open in Gmail to let me start composing.

You don't say which browser you are using but Firefox allows you to open Gmail (and other webmail) from a mailto link without using Notifier or any other program. Instructions: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-program-used-open-email-links?

I use MSIE. I work from home, and too many of the web sites I need to use require me to use MSIE.

The Internet Explorer section of the following link describes a way to do it after installing Google Toolbar in IE. try using Opera Mail. I have alot of email accounts and its the best by far, it will notify you as soon as an email has come through and to with email, highly recommend it!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I use MSIE 11.
Notifier frequently starts opening new windows endlessly when I click on a link.
Surely this problem happens to other folks. I don't even know what to Google to try and solve it.
