Gmail labs

Since Gmail keeps adding tons of lab features to use. Which ones do you use and which ones you think are lame?

Also what features do you want to see added to Gmail labs. What Gmail features in general do you want?


I would like a simple address book to send e-mails to multiple friends, how did Gmail skip this feature? Yeah you can make a contract group and do it that way......... However it can get annoying if I want to remove some people from a forwarded joke I'm sending....

An Insert Picture option might be useful? I know when you attach pictures it displays them in the e-mail so you don't have to download them. So why does some e-mail accounts have Insert Picture option? Doesn't the Insert Picture option in other e-mail places, disable the download option and just display the pictures in the e-mail? However that can't save you from having people simply right click on the image and select Save image as. So it might be a useless feature.....What do you think?

Other Gmail lab features........How about a spam reporting tool that helps take your spam in the spam folder and report it to proper reporting agencies like KnujOn or spamcop.... You can do this in Thunderbird with KnujOn add-on and it works.

A built in voice and video message sender.

Classic Gmail look option? Some people don't like the added labels and filters option on the bar when reading e-mail.

If you create a group... and enter it in the composer, it expands all the emails... just delete who you want at that time. I'm not entirely getting what you're requesting though.

Insert picture is kinda useless and redundant. A lot of email clients break images anyway and don't display them. I never liked that it turned into something more than communication.

spam reporting: I'd support this only if people were not reporting crap they sign up for and not properly unsubscribing.

what I use: labels on right, quick links, old snakey, advanced imap, navbar drag and drop (gmail just needs to open up the right side for nav too), forgotten attachment reminder (tho, not too useful because I stopped using it for work), mark as read button, gadget by url (for RTM).

what I'd like to see: built in sig by account sender (FF greasemonkey script exists, but I want a real solution)

not sure if it'd be a labs thing, but direct use of header information. so i can better filter my email...and then can do vacation msgs based on header information.. i'd even pay for gmail if they had this (as long as their SLA had 99.98% uptime and got out of beta).

On the groups.......

I have all my friends in a friends group. So I type in frie.......It pops up friends. So I click it and all the e-mails are entered in the TO: field. So now I need to search and delete some of the e-mail addresses because I don't want to send this e-mail to everyone in my friends.

While if there was an address book icon by the TO: or click TO: to open an address book on the side. I could then place check marks next to the contacts I want to e-mail which then the check marked contacts are automatically added to the TO: field and then I can send my e-mail off, would be allot faster and save me time. Plus all the other e-mail accounts have that feature.

It would be allot easier than having to search and delete the ones I don't want by typing in a group or having to type in each and every e-mail address I want to send to in the TO: field.


As for the Insert Picture thing.......Like I said it seems kinda useless......I don't get why it is offered when you can just attach them and they will display them in the e-mail. Unless it's some kinda false protection, if you don't want them to download the pictures and think they don't know how to use the save image as feature. LOL!
