I was looking forward to this announcement. Another free year. Thank you Google. I don't use it often but I love Gmail calling. I don't have to get up to grab the phone while I'm on the desktop or laptop.
And for the lucky people who have the 3G Chromebook, you could actually use the Chromebook as a substitute or replacement for a cellphone! Every 3G Chromebook comes with 2 years of free 100mb a month 3G Verizon internet service. With Gmail calling, you can make unlimited outbound calls to any domestic landlines or cellphones. And by linking it with Google Voice, you can also receive any calls directly on the Chromebook as well. Any calls you missed you can see and listen to voicemails via Google Voice. And if you want to call anywhere else in the world, you can't beat Google Voice international rates. All of this is ridiculously awesome if you think about it. $329 3G laptop you can surf the internet basically anywhere in the US and can also double as a cellphone and make and receive phone calls from/to any phone in the world? And all US calls are free? I love Google, and I love technology.
