GMail Backup!

Hi,

Don't know where to post this, so I've chosen this category

My question is on regarding the use of gmail. I really like the easy of use and online availability, but there is a situation I need to know.

Is there a way to backup the emails?

I currently am used to Outlook. It's nice, but the best part is that I have all my sent and received emails. I know I could make a POP3 connection to gmail, and download all my emails, but what about the sent items?

Is there a way of backup all mails (sent and received)?

with some time (or a lot if you suck with perl programming) you could do this

there may also exist some firefox extension that could do this or help do this
maybe someone here would know of one
